*sigh*

Why they allow JP anywhere NEAR the forums, I will never understand. They just need to stick him in a little padded room with plenty of little resin, metal, and (Battlefront-only, of course) plastic soldiers to play and make explode-y noises with.

In other news, I'm still having trouble deciding on a generic, Late War German force. I may just get some sand in my pants and go for the desert instead.

The sheer amount of constant updates BF do with there free PDF's, books etc.... I fail to see how now and again a single army unit or army chart wouldnt be overpowered/overcosted.

The biggest complaint I would have is the person who goes out of their own way to field such a broken ass list in the first place. Sure you can field Recce Tank Destroyers in force.... great... Why? I play FoW to replicate WW2. I do not take/make lists that will give me the free win. Its not about winning its about playing.

The massive amounts of lists that FoW can produce and the discussion is about Katys, BARs and TD's.... I would say thats not too bad since they have thousands of units and wargear options etc..

Thats just me though...

So it could be summed up in "STFU and GTFO!"

What I am not getting, is why BF cannot provide official FAQs for those books with issues in the way GW does. They are not obliged to reprint ALL updated books and supply them to their over 100500+ stores across the world - just make one FAQ and let everybody to download it. It is not that I do care, since I am now slowly getting into the taste of how sweet historical games are:
+pick the models
+pick the ruleset
+don't like it?
+try another ruleset
+rinse and repeat
Btw, is Bolt action 1:100 scale compatible? I know that the new PSC BGK is, but have no idea about their differences. BGK is more like company-batallion scale right, whereas BA seems like platoon level?

Bolt Action - Platoon and a tank scale... Think very much 1944k. Armies will look like a 40k army. 40 odd blokes and a tank. Seems to have a few issues judging by the amount of errata and rule queries on the Warlord Games forum.

BGK - Bit larger, platoon to company level with lots of tanks! Have a look at my AARs.

What was the original question that prompted this retort? Anyone got a link to the BF forum post?

Bolt action (played with 28mm) is very popular at my club. It does have some very 40k esque rules though such as no splitting fire.

What is this about TD spam? Only one person I've played against has ever even used one against me, let alone use more than one. Where is that sort of list available?

Another idiot question. What is the BAR you guys are referring to? My mind just keeps thinking of the actual weapon, but it seems like some sort of list abusing?

Someone once told me this about Porsche Panameras:

BAR is the British Armoured Regiment, EW list which is sort of overpowered and creates general butthurt every time it is mentioned. Since I am kind of noob myself, I have no idea what's wrong with that list.

The British Armoured Regiment was hilariously overpowered when it first came out with its hordes of little tanks with effective guns. Individually each tank wasn't anything to write home about, but they were very cheap and could be taken in very large quantities. They terrorized the EW tournament scene for a bit before being errata'd down quite a lot (probably too much).

American Tank Destroyers got a massive boost in effectiveness with the V3 rules and improved ammo from the latest books. They changed from a rather terrible unit in V2 to a very strong one currently. The newer books allow them to be taken in multiples, which is currently making life very rough for opposing tank armies.

Basically you can have 4 platoons of tank destroyers (with AT 13 or 14 guns) that can essentially teleport onto the board. That will murder most armoured lists.

I used to have a lot of time for Battlefront but recently they have become more and more like GW and my enthusiasm is waining.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

I'm actually interested in the american tank destroyers for my step-dad. What book is that from? I'd like to fight against that. He still complains about my mate's tanks(less so my poor hotchkiss tanks.) so maybe that will even them out.

Thanks guys, looks like I'm buying more FoW....lol

Tank Destroyer companies started showing up in Turning Tide (D-Day compilation), but the nasty ones are out of Blood, Guts, and Glory (also Devil's Charge and Nuts!), which are the Battle of the Bulge books. Even the immobile towed gun variants are bad news, since they also have the "decloaking" rule and are cheaper then the mobile units.
