So a couple months ago I bought 2 boxes of the Finecast Chaos Raptors. They are still in the box, not opened (I've delayed putting them together). Now I'm seeing that GW is releasing new Raptors that are plastic. I'm wondering if there's anyone out there that works at GW or knows about this that could answer some questions.

First, if I tried to exchange my older Finecast Raptors for the newer ones, would GW allow it? I mean, its not like the same models in a different box, its all different sculpts and different material. The Finecast Raptors aren't even on the GW site anymore. Would they allow me I just trade them into the store for credit and then use that to buy the newer ones? The newer Raptors are also a lot less expensive. Which leads to my next question. If they DID exchange them, would they give me the full value on the older Finecast Raptors since they're more expensive or would they only give me the price the newer ones are worth?

I think you might get the value of them in gift certificate form; seems to be how they handle refunds in my experience. Makes it easier if you have the receipt as well. However, it's probably better to find out at one of the stores.

No, I don't think they would allow you to exchange them, since it's not a set they "actually sell", if you know what I mean. I'm sure they would have some dilemma with selling them back to another customer.

It's like walking in there with an unopened Land Raider from 2nd edition and trying to get a modern land raider out of it... Well, maybe not that big of a trade, but still.

Any other company, and you might get away with it. Your best bet is to sell them on here, and hopefully buy a new set with the money

If they don't take them, I'll be incredibly disappointed. I mean, I still like the old Raptor sculpts. Its just, its Finecast. The new ones are plastic and therefore so much more reliable. I don't have to worry about giant screw ups.

You might want to go to a store where you are a regular. If you go into a store cold, basically expecting them to take a (now obsolete) product off your hands without you having a good relationship with them, you'll possibly go away disappointed. It might depend on their commercial relationship with GW as well - they may be able to return obsolete stock, but they may not, in which case you are asking the business owner to accept the financial risk of not being able to on-sell the finecast models to someone else.
