Hey again,

I've been theory-crafting a bit and came up with this latest refinement of my IG list.
Would thoroughly enjoy some feedback on this one people! The weaknesses I see here are the only 3 scoring units as well as my 1st turn vulnerability to barrage.

*edit*: Against horde armies the Demolisher is swapped out for a vanilla Russ and the assassin for a Manticore.
The strategy basically is to hold 2 objectives on your half of the table while trying to receive a cover save of at least 4+ waiting for DS to happen. After this has happened, swoop across the field and mop up with the Vendettas/pod Valkyries clearing a path for Coteaz to advance and contest/capture another objective towards the end of the game.

I will be trying this list tomorrow at our local store. Strategy is to have all the vehicles set up in a certain formation with Coteaz and his unit in front of him, baiting DS and then making quick work of them. Throughout the game just kill as much stuff as I can while slowly heading towards one objective with Coteaz. Towards the end of the game flat out the flyers towards the other objectives and drop their scoring payload, who will hopefully not have much resistance left to go up against.

Naked vets are a waste of points. BS4 lasguns might as well be BS3 lasguns with 5 extra bodies for 10 points less. Same with mortars, BS4 on indirect fire is a waste.

Naked CCS is awful too. Taking guard without using up weapon slots is just silly, you're not going to kill anything. You want mobile vets with the ability to take 3 special weapons in a squad at BS4 (which is a rare ability). Kit them out, use them! If you want bodies to sit on objectives, get a platoon.

Voxes are useless. For 10 points minimum (2 voxes) you can get something that might make a difference, like a melta-gun or auto-cannon

You don't have enough scoring units as you mentioned, but neither do you have enough threat. Guard needs to make the enemy think about target priority, and with some redundancy it doesn't matter what they shoot at (which is how you're going with the vends). Making your troops also a threat is important.

Thanks for the reply! I have moved onto list 2 since, as like you mentioned, the first one just didn't have either enough fire power or didn't make them have to deal with target priority. While I wish I could use vets fully kitted out, I don't have the correct weapon models to let me field what I would like to(MGs, PGs) and therefore am running the warband with 6 MMs instead. Speaking of special weapons; is there a better way to get them than in CCS sprues?

This threat is great for melta-guns the plasma are a bit iffy there. Ebay is pretty good for getting the weapons cheap, or if you collect more than one army, you can get them from there (my plasma are from space wolves).

There's an entry in the GK 1.1 FAQ stating Coteaz has to keep Hammerhand. Sadly...

And yeah, I might also might just buy the newly released sets of 5 melta or 5 plasma guns they now have on the GW website.
