The novel "Hammer and Anvil" features the Sisters of Battle, and interestingly the small group of Sisters have access to a Venator variant. It is described fairly well, with a single enclosed driver compartment, no integrated weapons system, gull wing doors, top hatch, and a passenger compartment that can house a small group of Sororitas- albeit uncomfortably.
The Forge World Venator is kind of a pain to put together, but I think it ended up well after some careful plasticard fitting. The color scheme is somewhat inspired by the old 1980s GI Joe/Cobra 'Stinger'. Without further ado:
Let me know what you think- this is my first time posting images here on Dakka.

Really nice simple looking paint scheme. I would think with your obvious skills in fading you could do some really nice, dusty weathering on it, though.

That black hull looks absolutely gorgeous, mind if I ask for a breakdown on how you did that?
I like the conversion, too, you've bulked the venator up nicely.
Are those cherry trees in the background?

The windows are so perfect! A little bit plain, but that's a good thing in this case.

I am itching to get one of those, even if I can only use it as a chimera. That is a perfect look.

It's a very nice model, excellently painted and converted. But it just doesn't strike me as a SoB vehicle. It's too... Plain. It looks like it would fit better with IG or maybe Arbites.

Thanks for the comments all, they're all valid and appreciated!
It is a little plain for a Sisters vehicle, no doubt. I wrestled with the paint scheme for quite a while, as my main force is white and red.
I'm getting ready to make a small Order Pronatus band and I wanted a practical ride for the Sister in charge, who I envision as a religious female version of Indiana Jones. Also, I imagine the vehicle is on an extended requisition from an Imperial Guard regiment, so it wouldn't have the icons and carvings festooning the Order's permanent vehicles.
A Kvit Ghost: Thanks! The vehicle was primed gray, then brushed over the whole thing with a thinned black (black acrylic, india ink, water, a little Golden flow release, and maybe some Future). After that came a light drybrush of soft bluish gray and some highlighting with a light blue gray. I don't really use a recipe, i just keep at it until it looks right... which is a huge pain if i need to match something I painted a year ago. I use maybe seven brands of paint which doesn't help.
Good eye! The trees in the background are Cherries. A better pic of them is on the Lead Adventure Forum:

They are scratch built, and I plan to do a tutorial on them sometime. I'll let you know if you're interested. They happened to be in the back because I was photographing some samurai previously and realized I hadn't taken any shots of the Venator yet.
There was some dust and weathering but it mostly disappeared with the spray sealing, so I need to do that again.
Thanks again!

Oh my, me likey a lot.
Do you happen to have a pre-paint picture by any chance? I'd love to dissect how you converted it to aid me when I start my LRDP-based Tallarn force(you can PM it if it's a no-no to post one in here).

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

No, sorry. I'm horrible when it comes to remembering to take WIP images. I need to be better about that. The drivers compartment and passenger area are all made of .06 styrene plasticard, and the window edging and hinges are .02 plasticard. I use liquid styrene cement to glue the plasticard to itself, and superglue for the resin to plastic bonds. I used a plastic putty to fill in some seams that had gaps.
The rivets are carefully applied puffy paint (the stuff used on fabric, found at craft stores like Hobby Lobby). The box on top is plasticard and the tarp and tube container are metal GW bits of unknown origin. The comm unit is a cut down Cadian vox pack.
Hope that helps
