This is a question that I just thought about. The BRB says that "beasts are not slowed by difficult terrain, even when charging". So I would interpret this statement as being able to assault into cover at their normal initiative. I'm not sure about this one though. Anyone have any ideas?
If I'm right, I'm taking Beastmasters for every game with DE

There are several threads on this. If you move through cover, you are INI 1 for that first turn. "Slowed" refers to the movement through cover, not the INI.

They go at init 1, the "slow" reference is to losing a inches off of the charge.

Even though they go at init 1 and are subject to the new rules for wound allocation they're still a fun and strong unit. As was always the problem with them, you gotta get them up the field w/o being blasted to bits.
