Subject: Maelstrom Warders, turned Chaos-- thoughts on themes?

So, I've been working on slowly putting together a Maelstrom Warder force, due to a combination of enjoying different armies, wanting a cohesive set of armies for Allies/Apocalypse games, and not being interested in painting that much power armor in one scheme.
What I've got right now:
Astral Claws (Played as SM, maybe DA depending on rules/interest)
Tyrant's Legion (using Death Korps for line troops, misc. light infantry minis for vets etc.)
Lamenters (mostly sticking to assault troops w/ magnetized jump packs; smaller collection, likely to stay small)
Mantis Warriors (mostly sticking to veterans and regular marines, may try jetbikes or something to represent bikes/speeders; smaller collection, likely to stay small)
To keep gameplay interesting, I'm looking at making chaos characters for each army, representing shortly after their fall. (This is historically inaccurate, but take it as an alternate history, bastardization, etc.) Depending, I might do some rank and file troops, but at least I'm interested in starting with just characters.
The I'm trying to figure out which would be the most interesting cult troops. I'd want each force to be one, except Astral Claws (the largest), which I'd probably give two (non-opposed) gods and Undivided)
Mantis Warriors as Tzeentch is the only one that seems obvious: mystics, prophets, deception, etc.
Then there are the other three...
Death Korps seem like they'd work fine as plague zombies. Naturally, this would make Astral Claws Nurgle, which fits with their heavy look, but not much else.
However, they seem best suited for Khorne (pride, brutal).
Lamenters as Nurgle seem possible thematically (embrace misfortune and death, kind of pariahs) but doesn't seem like a great plan with assault troops. Slaaneshi Lamenters aesthetically works well, but doesn't seem that thematically appropriate: they don't seem to be that prideful or charismatic...
Thoughts?

A large zombie horde could be entertaining for apocalypse games. It would be a literal apocalypse XP. You could create the forge world characters for your armies. Check the badab war books for characters from each of the chapters to find some interesting stuff.

Yeah, definitely doing that, with all of them. Considering doing chaos versions of them, too. I'll probably do Huron's chief apothecary as a Fabius Bile proxy, considering doing post-fall Huron as both Huron (with his near death) or Abbadon (as an ascended form). Typhus would be necessary for the plague theme, not sure on others.
I guess the big question was, before getting in to the detail, which cults felt appropriate for which factions.

Heres the Wardens of the Maelstrom Adepticon 2012 team thread that Gitsplitta, Solar_Lion, IceAngel, briancj and Mr Malevolent ran this year... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/444995.page May help you come up with some ideas at least (theres all sorts of fluff and beautiful minis in here) As well as Gitsplittas Mantis Warriors (enormous) plog that he has neglected recently, but he is (hopefully) returning to soon, lots more Wardens stuff in here... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/289929.page EDIT: Obviously, these are all done as Loyalists, but it should all help with paint schemes and things at least...

Thanks, yeah, I'm not sure how true to the official schemes I'm going to go (my astral claws are grey and blue instead of silver and blue), but that's some good reference material. I like the old yellow style Mantis warriors...
