Otherworlds is initiating a project for adventurers.
http://www.indiegogo.com/otherworldDA
Though I am getting " KS/ INDIEGOGOed out", I will be throwing bones at the Otherworlds crew, for the quality that they put into thier figures.
http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/
The quality of these figures is amazing. I have numerous ones, and am an avid collector of them. Think old school D and D miniatures at higher quality. They are a little pricy, but the figures are excellent and you are getting what you pay for.
These adventureres have been in the works and talks for quite some time.
This is an excellent project, and worthy of support.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Retro-Adventurers looks good.
Maybe I was just too stupid to find it on the Indiegogo page, but what material are they using? White Metal? Resin? Plastic?

" Each set of 12 miniatures will include 12 metal scenic dungeon bases, and will be supplied packed into a foam-lined carry case made by FeldHerr in Germany. All of these figures will be cast in pewter. Some will require minor assembly, such as a seperate shield or weapon arm. They are all supplied unpainted."- Indigogo project
They are looking to get a whole range up and running. As with the rest of the range, this is going to be a high end project with lined cases and everything.

Their stuff really does look nice, but it's fitting the same conceptual headspace for me as that Reaper kickstarter that so recently annihilated my wallet. I wish them the best of luck!

Agreed. He has some very nice figures, but they're not cheap and are very much in the same vein as Reaper's stuff. After Bombshell Babes and Dredd finish up, it's going to take something extraordinarily special to get me onboard for anymore kickstarters for quite some time.

This stuff is very much in the 'old school' AD&D vein - so if you're at all into that RPG scene, these miniatures fit perfectly.
Especially their range of Monsters.
I will have to figure out how, but I will be pledging for the lot of them!

I tried to order a bunch of monsters from him about 2 years ago. A couple were out of stock, but he told me they would be in "next week".
A month later with no contact from him, and I got my money back.

the miniatures are quite nice, i have a bunch of kickstarter pledges in other games. But since this is still a good distance away I may actually try it out. Is there any notable differences in the way Indiegogo works compared to kickstarter?

The biggest differences I've seen are:
1) I think Indiegogo takes your money 'right away'?
2) Indiegogo has the 'flexible funding' option - which means even if the campaign doesn't hit its goal, they get the money anyway - they just have to pay a higher percentage to Indiegogo?
Note that this IS a 'flexible funding' campaign - but that really doesn't matter, since they've long since passed their goal!

I'll be psyched if this one can get to $40K and hopefully even $45K.
Of course, the $50K and $55K goals are great too, they just seem like they might be a bit to far out to reach in 4 days.
But hopefully they'll still eventually see the light of day somewhere down the road.

From personal experience, the figures are amazing.
I have quite a few of them, and for the lots, there are plenty to choose from.
You can get quite a bit from them in different sets, much in line as the old school Heritage Minis, the sets come in different boxes with great options. The Adventurers were in discussion for quite sometime, and seeing them after the project continues is great. Much in the same line as Tre's stuff, these guys are top shelf miniatures, and they have a pricetag on them.
Between Tre Manors stuff and these theres a good selection of figures to choose from, and I believe that they have covered both the Monster Manual 1 and 2 for the old school D and D line.
The Project is up at the 36,000.00 mark almost to 37.
Heres the latest on the project. They made it to the 35 grand goal.
This is a brief note to thank all our new contributors for helping us beyond the $35,000 mark. The first set of Magic Users’ familiars will now be made, and I hope that we’ll reach the second pack of special familiars too.
Just in case we get that far in the next 4 days, I have added one further bonus. This will be a seated Human Male Magic-user, a remodelled version of the DA1 character, converted to use as a driver for the Adventurers’ cart. No further bonuses will be added beyond the $55k level.
Kev Adams has nearly finished the Adventurers’ Cart, and I hope to have some photos to show you all soon. I also expect to take delivery of the first castings of the DA series next week, and photos of painted models will soon be on show.
Thanks again for all of your support.
Cheers,
Richard Scott

I love Otherworld, they make some of my favourite minis and would love to get in on this but it's way too expensive to get what I want.
I could maybe stretch to kick in for a single box, but I really, really don't need any more human male adventurers, there are plenty of cheap, characterful ones from the 80's on ebay and the Miniature Heroes site. If only you could choose which box you get at Level 4 :(
Good female minis that aren't dressed like strippers are so rare I don't think I've ever even seen one, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Otherworld get out of their sculptors, I'm sure it'll be good. I'm just going to have to save my pennies until they release the female adventurer box and buy it then.

At the top level (7 for $280) you're getting 48 figures - about $5.83 each. And that doesn't include the stretch goal 'freebies'.
And the quality will be top notch - more than a little bit of an improvement over stuff circa the 80's!
Even at the lower entry points, you can get an entire set (12 miniatures) for $75 - about $6.25 each.
I can certainly understand "Kickstarter Fatigue", but these figures are making me find a way to contribute before the deadline!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the minis being too expensive, I know they'll be amazing. The existing greens are fantastic.
The problem is that I'd like to support the campaign but can't get the minis I want at any of the levels I can afford
I don't have Kickstarter fatigue, having only gone in on one (Project Eternity), I have being poor. Maybe you have a spare $280 you could give me?

The stuff looks great, but I'm also getting KS fatigue. The Reaper project already scratched my itch for D&D/fantasy minis.

The thing about this (to me at least) is that while good, they're comparable to Reaper figures in many ways - and I have quite a lot of Reaper figures on the way from the KS.
Additionally, and even disregarding the Reaper Kickstarter, (and KS fatigue) the prices work out to be as much or more than Reaper figures at either of those levels. Do I actually want 48 random "old-school"-ish figures? Well, no. They're the sort of figures I pick up if/when I'm looking for something specific for FRP games, or stuff like Descent or the D&D boardgames (Ravenloft et al) - but in those cases I'm picking and choosing figures to match the characters rather than buying a huge set. If they were half the price I might be all-in, but that's just my own insanity at play, and it's completely understandable that they aren't. More realistically, if you could pick and choose a la carte, I might have been interested. Also, greens.

You're welcome. Seriously though, I'm not telling anyone to not go in for this KS, and there's obviously a lot of interest. Nor am I pissing on it as we see in some other current KS threads. If they'd offered an a la carte choice, I would have probably gone in, as I did with the Bombshells and Stonethingy Dwarfs.
