Hey Dakka, I really like the Citadel Realm of Battle game board, but... I don't like how expensive it is. Does anyone know where you can get it for a discounted price that's significantly cheaper? And if not, a cheaper version from a different gaming company? It would be great if anyone could help me out.

Wrong place to ask this. Also, a local gaming store would be the best place. They usually run deals in stores. Unfortunately you probably won't find one online outside of ebay or equivalent websites for any cheaper (probably not even though, as they're most likely painted and all that).

You could spend half the cost or less and make your own... you are just looking at time spent and more weight when you are done. Other than that you are out of luck getting GW stuff on the cheap.

Ahh I see, well I'm using the battle mat and homemade terrain right now, I just thought I'd enjoy a more sturdy gaming surface, we have it on boards on a table

Produced several years earlier, not that sturdy and with very visible edges of the boards.

Personally I prefer another solution:
I use coloured felt mats by Hotz Mats http://www.hotzmats.com/felt_purchase_mat.html , esp. European Fields for Fantasy and Western Town mat/Moonscape/DirtPlanet (all without grid) for 40k. Zuzzy Mats http://www.zuzzy.com/ (rubber, structured, unpainted, smelly at first) are an alternative for USA, but shipping costs are prohibitive for other destinations.

Mats are even more modular than modular boards, when you add hills, rivers and buildings freely on top.
