The first signs of the awakening of the Kwerizmi began when a warband of Chaos Space Marines of the Trodai an Bas were raiding the Imperial planet of Augar. Sensing danger, two of the Kwerismi Overlords joined their meagre forces and attacked the stragglers of a Chaos column in the small village of Salezi.
This was my 3rd 6th Edition battle, and my friend's first ever wargame!
Forces of the Necrons:
Overlord with Resurrection Orb and Mindshackle Scarabs
Overlord with Resurrection Orb
10 Warriors (W1)
10 Warriors (W2)
5 Immortals
Forces of the Chaos Space Marines:
Sorceror with Mark of Slaanesh and Lash of Submission
8 Khorne Berzerkers with Champion and Power Sword in Rhino with Twin Linked Bolter
8 Chaos Space Marines with Plasma Gun (M1)
6 Chaos Space Marines with Plasma Gun (M2)
Mission:
We just used D3+2 objective markers and took it in turns to place them on the board.
Tactics:
I wanted to rush my Khorne Berzerkers into combat with his juicy robots as quickly as possible. Meanwhile I'll use my 6 Marines to hold an objective in my deployment zone and the 8 Marines to advance to contest the central objectives.
My opponent wanted to let me come to him and shoot the hell out of me before I can use my Khorne Berzerkers.
Deployment:
I hid M2 behind a building. M1 were given the Sorceror and were hidden behind my Rhino.
He deployed his Immortals in full view of the enemy with the lesser Overlord. W1 were hidden behind a hedge. W2 had the better Overlord and hidden behind a building.
Turn 1:
I had the first turn. The Rhino moved at cruising speed with M1 in pursuit. M2 advanced slowly.
I M1 then ran, getting 6" and hiding behind the Rhino.
Shooting-wise M2 shot at W2 but missed every shot.
My opponent advanced his Immortals and W1.
All his shots were targeted at my Rhino. It was destroyed, leaving the KB to walk for the rest of the battle.
Turn 2:
With the Rhino destroyed the KB moved towards the W1. The Sorceror and M1 also moved towards W1.
M2 killed one Warrior in W2. M1 killed 1 Warrior, the KB killed one as well. The Sorceror used Lash to drag them out of cover and close to my KB . . .
The KB charged at the Warriors and despite every attack hitting only 4 were killed. The Warriors in response inflicted no kills at all. They passed their leadership check, leaving my KB tied up.
The Immortals moved towards M1.
The Immortals killed 1 Marine. The W2 killed 1 Marine in M2.
The KB annihilated the rest of the Warriors and consolidated behind the Immortals.
Turn 3:
The KB moved towards W2. The Sorceror and M1 moved towards the Immortals. M2 moved towards W2.
M1 killed 3 Immortals. The KB killed 2 Warriors. M2 killed one Warrior.
The KB rolled a Double 1 on the charge range meaning they could not reach W2. However M1 charged the Immortals. The Sorceror challenged the Overlord, each inflicting one wound. The Immortal stayed alive and so did all the Marines.
No Necron unit moved.
W2 killed 3 KB, leaving 5 in the unit.
In the combat with the Immortals, nothing of note happened.
Turn 4:
The KB moved towards the Warriors. M2 also moved towards the Warriors.
No one was hurt during the shooting phase.
M2 rolled a double-1 on their charge range. The Khorne Berzerkers did charge them, however. They killed 4 Warriors and lost 1 in return thanks to Mindshackle Scarabs. The Warriors and Overlord broke and fled 8 inches. Finally the last Immortal was killed and so was the Overlord. M1 consolidated 6" towards W2.
The Necrons rallied and shot at the Khorne Berzerkers, killing 1.
Turn 5:
All units moved and then charged at the Warriors.
My opponent then gave up, acknowledging my superiority in every way possible.
And so the Kwerizmi resurrection came to a grinding halt. Hopefully, thought the Phaeron, things would go down better next time.
