Really though, thats the problem with doing a pure black model, the black will always mute the subtle details you you normally see on other brighter colors. Same goes with pure white models. If you want to do Black Templars with some good details showing up, Id suggest priming it white, and them black washing it in layers until you get the desired black. That way on the high spots youll still have lighter colors for your details to match up with.
