I'm thinking about checking out Kings of War. Right now I have the choice of spending 50USD on the Two-player starter, or 28USD on the v3 rulebook. On the one hand, it's mighty hard to pass up 95 miniatures for 22 dollars. They're not the most amazing miniatures, but they're pretty good and that's an amazing price. On the other, the miniatures aren't *that* important to me (I have a modest collection from WHFB I can use) and I'd rather have rules for a complete game than extra plastic.

How complete is the 32 page mini rulebook? If it's similar to the mini rulebook that's come in GW starters then I think I might go with the Two-player set. If it's more like the 'Read this first' pamphlet that comes in those same starters however, I'll probably just get the hardcover. It sounds like the hardcover contains the army lists for the game as well, while the mini does not. Are the army lists available outside of the hardcover?

If you have enough models to play, then I'd suggest getting the rulebook first. There are only four army lists in the mini-book, and they aren't complete.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

I would go with rule book the models are good but you don't he complete army lists or background stuff the full rule book is a much better purchase especially if you have a good model collection

Army lists *should* be available outside of the hardcover sometime early October.

I will continue to pester Mantic on everyone's behalf on this point, I keep seeing people wanting them because the mini-rulebook isn't the complete package.
