I was playing on friday night with my still assembling orcs and thought I'd try 4 snotling pump wagons, all run next to each other.
With upgrades for St 5 and extra d6 mvt they are 75 points each.
I also took 3 goblin chariots, each as individuals
1st game was vs daemons.
He raced forward and I managed to get 2 SPWs in and 1 chariot into a unit of 30 strong unit of bloodletters including a herald... 21 Strength 5 hits later and 17 wounds. he then killed the chariot and a SPW. My 1 wound left pump wagon's snotlings then killed another bloodletter. He was cut down further from his instability test.
The 2nd game was vs a mass skaven army with >250 models on the table.
I got 3 into his Abomination, 31 hits, 14 wounds and he made 8/14 regens. DEAD! First time I've ever killed the a-bomb in 1 turn.
They then over ran and 2 smashed into a horde of 40 plague monks. I smashed out 16 hits, 12 wounds. He killed 1 SPW and left the other on 1 wound, snotling crew kills another plague monk... he then failed his Ld 8 steadfast check and I ran him down.
Another SPW speant the game smahing gutter runner units, their lack of stand and shoot was brilliant.
i did get 1 roll of double 1 in the 2nd game and fortunately ran off in a non damaging direction.
These are a BRILLIANT unit when buffed with upgrades
Mine are set for tourneys and 'all comers' but if you know you are playing against brets or heavy empire/chaos/dwarves then the no armour save would be a must have.

Can you take 4? I thought they are rare and capped at 2 duplicates per game. Were these grand battles 3k+?

Yeah as cheap as they are might as well take 4.

Sweet. I remember a bunch of hype about them early on, but haven't heard much since. I feel like random move stuff is quite powerful, as its difficult to skirt around the edges to sneak by those buggers...

A friend from my club keeps telling me the same, i'll probably get some for my orcs. I'm starting to wonder what a maximum chariot list would play like, 3 x 3 wolf chariots, 3 boar chariots, 4 pump wagons. so much smash and grab in that list!

I've been eying them, but mostly as something of a flank guard. They aren't bad, not by any means, but their random movement and straight-line maneuvering makes them sorta poor in D6+4 terrain games for proper flanking with my units as they are (I tend to focus on a few big bricks w/ small flankers, instead of a number of moderately sized bricks).
Not that anyone can discount the lethality of even the naked 2D6 S4 Impact Hit variety. Will chomp down on most flanking Fast Cavalry on average in addition to having a nice 9-12" average bubble with their basic rolls (and a good 12-16" average on the +1D6 type). Hell, if afraid of something coming in from a table edge, have 1-2 bouncing back and forward along the edge of the table, it's not like they're so expensive that you lose much in the effort, and their basic impact hits are often more than enough for such units.

...how did 3 Pump Wagons do 31 hits to an A-bomb?

Snotling Pump Wagons, instead of normal chariots, cause 2D6 hits apiece. Ergo, he rolled an average of about 10.3 hits per Chariot. Rather high, but not impossible (yes, this also means it's theoretically possible for three Snotling Pump Wagons to do 36 wounds before crew attacks).
They hit hard, in return for being T4, W3, pretty much no saves, and having hilariously weak crew (or, in other words, it's impact hits or explode to a solitary Saurus).

I know they're 2d6 each and all. That's just some insane rolling.
Pump Wagons are also great at guarding the back lot, with your war machines. I've used one to discourage fast cavalry and flyers from going after my Doom Divers and Rock Lobbas. At less than 100pts, they're efficient little buggers (and you get more Impact Hits/point than Wolf Chariots, which is saying something.)

Mhm, that's where I've been eying a pair of them myself. Guarding my flanks / rear and giving a few extra rounds to my Bolt Throwers' shooting against aggressive armies.

That random movement is hard to get around. And that extra d6 or two makes Pump Wagons something I'd actually use.
Back in 7th, I knew a guy who wanted an all-chariot goblin force. Grom, Big Bosses and Shamans on chariots, wolf chariots, units of 5 wolf riders (to fill up core), and 4 Pump Wagons. Even then, those things did crazy damage (especially without Step-Up), but 2d6 movement meant they were miles behind the rest of his army. He did surprisingly well. Until he went up against a Casket of Souls and lost everything in one phase.
