I have a question for Dakka. As the title of this thread asks, would you have a problem with your opponent using the Corbulo model as a regular Sanguinary Priest during Casual Play? What about Tournament play?

Thanks,
Falco

Personaly I would't mind in a casual game whatsoever, hes an awesome model and the has nothing different in wargear then a regular priest model.

In tournaments thats different, if its not WYSIWYG then i still wouldn't mind but if it is then i'm afraid an actual priest model will need to be used

Thanks Riddick, that is what I was thinking was going to be the answer. The tournament is WYSIWYG.....

Even in tournaments, people are usually happy to accept a special character model used to represent a regular model with the same wargear/weapons. As long as it's still WYSIWYG. I've always used the Eldrad model to represent my regular Farseer, since 1999.

I have used a slightly different sang priest as Corbulo and vice versa... the models dont have anything too insane on them so its not much of a issue.

Armageddon, Pry System, Armageddon Sector, Armageddon Sub-sector, Segmentum Solar.

Seeing as your allowed to do the opposite, count a non-unique character model as a unique character model, I can't see why the inverse would not be true. Provided you can see what they have (Standard as unique) or have what you see (unique as standard). Discounting specialist gear that the standard can't get, it could just be counted be a decorative bit or trophy with no in game effect.

As long as your opponent knows what he's facing there's no reason to discount the Corbulo model as a regular Sanguinary Priest. Special characters are often more ornate and might have extra wargear, but Corbulo is IIRC one who doesn't differ at all from his regular compatriots.

So unless you try to field Corbulo at the cost of a normal Sanguinary Priest, go ahead.

I've actually started doing this as well, running Eldrad as a regular Farseer. Makes denoting which of the two identical Farseers (equipment-wise) as the Warlord much easier.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Why is this even a question? Of course you can do it. As long as the model has proper wargear on, there is no problem whatsoever.

Actualy a TO could have an issue with it, if they wanted to - same as they could have an issue with you painting your marines blue, or having non-green orks, etc.

In general I cant think of a single tournament that would disallow this.

Thanks all for the responses! I just want to field him as a regular Priest with melta-bombs. The model does not have any "extras" so I dont really see an issue. Just Chainsword and Bolt Pistol. This is for Feast of Blades Open GT by the way. I emailed the TO and they dont see any issues with it.

It's been sufficiently answered, but I wanted to toss in my two cents that I wouldn't have a problem with my opponent doing this, in casual or a WYSIWYG tournament.

I out with in both 40k and WHFB.
