If Coteaz is within operating distance of a gun emplacement and an enemy unit deep strikes without 12" of him, may he take his free shot using the emplacement?

Seeing as how all the gun emplacements in the brb have the interceptor rule, a better question is if Coteaz fires a gun emplacement for IBEY, would he be able to fire again for Interceptor?

I believe so, the Interceptor rule just says you can't fire on the next friendly turn. Nothing about continuing to shoot on this turn using "I've been expecting you"

So the weapon could be fired once using Interceptor, and as many times as enemy units are in range using "I've been expecting you"

Only one model can use a Gun Emplacement at a time. But if anything allows that model to fire multiple times in a turn it will allow it to fire the gun multiple times.

Yup! So don't deepstrike within 12" of a fortification or ADL with coteaz sitting in it, he will mess you up.

Hmmmm, I wonder if you could actually call Interceptor and "i've been expecting you" on the same target?

Effectively allowing you to shoot the target twice.

I have been running this against recent opponents, works much better than my Rune priest with gunline, (deep striking flame demons melt my face). Coteaz manning the quad gun with bolter bots and stormbolter Warrior Acolytes is downright nasty (slapping a presience on your dudes helps a ton). Just begging the enemy too drop within 12"

I think the real uncertainty lies within whether Coteaz can has the gun in the first place during IBEY

A model in btB with the gun can fire it instead of one of his normal weapons, so i would say yes.

Yep, I've been expecting you doesn't have any specific weapon restrictions in it, just says Coteaz and his unit can fire out of sync an unlimited number of times in a turn (but only once per instance) of something deepstriking within a foot of his model. Puts the kiabosh on dropping a melta squad in a drop pod right next to him (and any 'dreads he may be screening) quite nicely.

I've actually been using this for a while (it's even on my coteaz tactica on the GK thread lol but man does it piss people off). It's really mean to put coteaz near a board corner so he can cover a very high amount of out flankers as well. Team this up with interceptor / strike squads with warp quake and it's pretty darn useful as misplace happens a good 33% and you can set them up perfectly at 12'.

Just be careful of placing screamers near your guys this way. I've had one really bad set of rolls once after putting 10 screamers within 12' of coteaz and squad along with some awesome invul saves on that fancy unit killing like 1 guy. Silliness ensued as they proceed to turbo boost 24' with slashing attacks over my aegis and based on where they end up for cover saves, and absolutely aweful armor saves for my bolter henchmen, I ended up failing morale and running off my board edge (I now put coteaz roughly 13' up from the back of the edge so that I can't make it off in one round)

Of course that really doesn't happen that often (crazy lucky rolls/unlucky but I guess that's why we play dice lol)


On another wacky game, I was trying to hug the enemy deployment zone to avoid fliers and just so happens the guy had an aegis line with quad gun and some grot necron warriors sitting on it. Another set of seeming impossible dice rolls ensued and coteaz's squad of bolter henchmen and their chimera actually makes it into the warriors who got shot off it by deep striking units. It's now turn 4, and coteaz is in the enemy deployment zone in b2b with a quad gun.... against fliers..... wmahahahahaha. His quad gun squad just so happened to be in the middle of the board and I thought I had it made.

Unfortunately, we were in long table edge deployment and the fliers managed to come on in the weeee corners and make a line against coteaz. Lacking side walls on that aegis as it was a horizontal line, I got shot off the damn thing by turn 6 :/

Coteaz sits on my ADL (Icarus) with 3 Plasma Cannon Servitors, 3 Plasma Gun Acolytes, 4 Bolter Acolytes.

It's a fun time when something deep strikes near me.
