Hey Gang,
Our next Warhammer Fantasy Tournament will be Saturday October 20th.
Scenarios will be "from the book" with some minor special rules here and there to spice things up. We will be using an 'Ard Boyz style Massacre-Major-Minor-Draw scoring setup. Tiebreakers will be scenario bonus points first, followed by strength of schedule. In the case of an odd number of players, one player per round will get the bye, which will count as a Major victory with no bonuses.
Players will score their opponents on Sportsmanship and Painting, with a single vote each for Best Painted and Best Sportsman. Painting and Sportsmanship are scored separately from Battle Points for their respective prizes.
Armies will be built to the 2500 point level using the standard army construction rules. In a change from our standard format, we will be allowing Hero Level Special Characters ONLY. No Lord level Special Characters and No Folding Fortress. Players must have at least THREE LEGIBLE copies of their army list, either written or printed. One is to be provided to the judge, one for player reference, and one for opponent verification. Lists are not required to be shown to opponents during the game with the exception that when a 'secret' element of the army, or the existence of a certain piece of wargear or magic item, is declared, an opponent can request to see the relevant section of a player's army list to verify.
Armies must be WYSIWYG and comprised primarily of Games Workshop models from the relevant army book. Exceptions are allowed for competent conversion work, if you aren't sure about a piece please contact me so I can take a look at it and decide whether to allow it or not.
Round times will be watched closely during the event, and I will be walking around the tables during games to help keep people on track. Games that do not go for a minimum of four full turns will not be scored and count as a loss for both players. Each tournament round will be two hours, fifteen minutes each.
Prizes will depend on the number of players involved; more players equals bigger prizes. The top prize goes to the player with the highest battle points. Best Painted goes to the player with the best-painted army, and the Sportsmanship award goes to the player with the most sportsmanship points.
For the tournament there is a $10 entry to play. The doors will be open early for players to come in and get set up. I want to kick this one off as close to 10:00am as possible so we don't go too long.
The schedule will stick as closely as possible to the following:
9:30am - 10:00 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:00am - 12:15pm - Round 1
12:15 – 12:45 - Lunch
12:45 – 3:00 - Round 2
3:15—5:30 - Round 3
5:45 - Winners announced
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Davis
