OK, on page 93 of the BRB, it clearly states that Artillery cannot fire when they move. My question is: Does pivoting in place constitute as movement for Artillery?

On page 71 for vehicles the BRB states that vehicles that pivot only, count as stationary. Unfortunately, Artillery is not a vehicle so this doesn't directly apply.

On page 10 of the BRB in the movement section under the turning and facing paragraph it states that the model can be turned on the spot to face in any direction without affecting the movement distance they are able to cover. While the direction a unit is facing won't affect it's ability to shoot, or charge... (paraphrase: didn't want to quote verbatim) . It doesn't say, however; that the model is not considered to be moving while being turned.

My personal take on this is that I think a free pivot is allowed for Artillery RAI without affecting the ability of the unit to shoot, but I admit, I have nothing RAW to back it up that I can find.

What say ye Dakka?

If turning a model counted as movement, then it would impact its ability to shoot. Since turning does not impact shooting, then turning does not count as movement.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Turning doesn't effect non-vehicle models(and then its only important for firing arcs)

Anything that isn't a vehicle has 360 degree line of sight, so you technically don't even need to actually pivot. It just looks cooler.

The thunderfire has an axis in which it turns 360 though most of us model them glued in place.

Thanks for the replies Gentlemen. I think I may have been over thinking it a bit, but it's nice to get some clarity.

Oh, Hj? That's one heck of a piece of circular reasoning there. Nice one! :-)
