The Peripheral

I made a goal to myself when I joined Dakka Dakka that every 1,000 posts, I would begin a project that would benefit:

1. The community (both locally and the hobby.)

- I will record as much information to the methods of how I'm building things, from beginning to end - and at the end, I will donate them all to my FLGS to do what they will.

2. The world, by using environmentally conscious materials - as best as one can in a plastic-centric hobby - at least they won't end up in the bin.

3. Myself, to serve as inspiration to the enormous project I am undertaking by creating the Korzacks from the ground up (from an army, 3 in progress novels, and now this). Needless to say, the Korzacks are well detailed and have a rich, although obscure, legacy I will do my best give information about - but must retain 99% of it because I'm still attempting to write for the BL.

This thread is the action of that ideal, so let's begin.

First, who are the Korzacks?

Spoiler:
+ [Begin Transmission] +

The Korzacks hail from a capital called Anterio in the Anterian system. They aren't a homogeneous people like Cadia, Krieg, Tallaran, or most other planets, but rather come from many of these worlds to serve under the ever watchful eye of the Inquisition. What ties to them together to be a Korzack is a -

+[Transmission interrupted by the Ordo Hereticus]+

+[Transmission interfaced to the Senatorum Imperialius]+

+[Transmission relayed to the Ordos Xenos]+

There are no such thing as the Korzacks. The images and text beyond are warrant for the eyes of official Inquisitorial duties and privileges only. Proceed with the pretense of immediate excommunication, and subsequent execution, by order of Inquisitor Qual'jahara Fawlon M.41.8929

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Alright, so clearly we won't be learning a whole lot about the Korzacks today, but at least I'm serious about the project I feel will somewhat define the Korzack's culture as best I can work with my (atrociously) skilled hands. Apart from the 3 goals above, there is only one rule I must follow: The only thing I can buy, is anything I cannot yet make or already have some sort of access to. In this case, the only thing I will be buying, is paint, glue, and possibly resin. Remember, I don't own a camera, hardware, a table, a workstation, 40k bits, or anything else super fancy. I also believe in transparency beyond that of the Korzack legacy, and will record everything I do, from what material's I currently have, how I am using them, how to replicate the project, and finally how much it is costing me.

To begin:

I rented a camera from my college (which I must do every time I post pictures from here on out).

I have some pictures to show for your interest as to what I have to work with, minus the paints, glue, and hardware which I will just list. For now, see if you can guess what I will try to be making with the material's I've collected - possibly even suggest what I can do with my piles of junk, it may influence what I end up making! And don't worry, the images show only a very minute amount of stuff the Adeptus Mechanicus has granted me access to - there is plenty more on the way.

Spoiler:
An assortment of stuff so far:

To those who are interested of what the stuff is:

3 Normal toilet paper rolls
4 Empty datemark rolls (from a local restaurant)
1 Broken plastic spoon
1 Broken plastic fork
1 Broken plastic from a blister pack
1 cloven toilet paper roll (don't know how that happened)
1 industrial sized toilet roll
2 Empty boxes stock card boxes
1 Empty baked beans can
1 Empty corn can
1 Dirty (ew..) pineapple can
1 Dirty hair product container
1 6" Piece of balsam wood
1 Gift from Nepal
1 Birthday card (my Birthday is Oct 2nd if anyone is wondering why I have one on hand)
2 notebooks containing my Legacy
1 Valiant - albeit foolhardy - Korzack

*Not shown*

2 Cans of tomatoes
A multitude of yogurt cups
A single sad and crumpled bendy straw from the gutter

A collection of blurry fall leaves I will be using to create the atmosphere of the Zenamareka Ruplee: (Warning, blurry picture):
Spoiler:

The plant species under the genus, Ruplee are the hallmarks of the Korzacks and are equally as widespread the people who depend upon them. Its many species all appear perceptually stuck at the apex of a red autumn's foliage year round no matter the ecosystem. They are both hardy and invasive, for the Ruplee strangely has no record of a place of origin. Commonly called the Korzack Blood Orchid, all species of Ruplee have sprung from the blood of the Korzacks, their growths [+++ Access denied by Inquisitorial sanction+++]

Sorry folks, I can't reveal any more about them at this current time. There will be more to come soon. I hope you're as excited as I am, thanks for tuning in!

The Peripheral

Oct 2nd, Gathered way more materials than I thought possible. It's funny, the more I ask for stuff, the more people seem to be willing to get rid of their junk. I wish I had pictures but I had to return the camera.

Here's what I got for my birthday, from a random electrician I asked on the street

Box full of electrician's copper wire
PVC pipe, (Yay!), Straight and about 2 feet long with no tools to cut it (Booo!)
Flexible metal tubing - Idk the name
Metal Chain - I can't wait to use this
Another birthday card (cardstock)

A partner in crime to help me build a whole table's worth of stuff.

Total progress: More materials.

Total cost so far: $0

Automatically Appended Next Post:

The Peripheral

Oct. 4th

Built the foundation of the C.R.U.S.H. K2-Z1 facility, made lengths of barbed wire out of the copper I have on hand. Partner in crime has agreed to go to large scale and help turn this project into a massive gameboard. We intend on donating to our FLGS. Our plan so far is to make a six piece modular board with the theme of the artic mountains. It is roughly 6'x 4' and will be of the following from left to right (like reading a book): 2. A taiga forest 1. An ice choked harbor complete with outflowing K2-Z1 pipeline, 3. Security and industrial center, (moving down to second 3/6ths of the board) 4. A Mine embedded into the side of a mountain pass, 5. Cities of death, 6. K2-Z1 facility built into the side of another mountain pass.

More to come, including pictures.
