Can a flyer that evades still use its deathray?

Also, whats the ruling of the deathray with units in CC? Has there been a GW direct ruling on this matter?

As the Death Ray cannot be fired as a Snap shot, it cannot be fired while Evading.

No answer from GW on whether or not it can hit units in close combat.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Can a Deathray be fired as a snap shot?

Page 13 has the full Snap Shot rules.

Evading Flyers can only fire snap shots. You cannot fire shooting attacks that do not use BS to hit as snap shots. The Deathray does not use BS to hit. It cannot be fired by an evading flyer.

As you have to aim the death ray, you can't shoot into combat because the rules say you can't target models in combat.

The death ray doesn't target units, it targets points on the table.
Counter point - you can only shoot the TL Tesla Destructor at the first unit hit by the Death Ray.
Fine - hit unit A that is not in combat with the Death Ray but trace the line over the combat. No targeting, no other issues.

Where does it say you have to fire the Tesla Destructor at the FIRST target in the line?

I would like to know as well, you just have to fire the Tesla Destructor at a unit hit by the death ray.

The TL can shoot at any target that was hit by the Death Ray as long as it follows its normal rules for shooting.

Sorry, I mis-remembered.

So the example still works - draw the line over a close combat and a unit that is not involved. No issues whatsoever.

No. Same as quite a few editions all shooting from one unit is simultaneous.
