The issue with punishers is range, hard to hide behind a screen with only 24” range. Good for killing stuff coming to you less so for opposing screening units. If you have a meta than build toward that. I’m just pointing out any high strength high damage weapons murder tanks IME.

Still, a valhallan punisher is cheaper and tougher than any marine equivalent. Plus, if I go first, one will have psychic barrier and the other the -1 to hit spell hopefully. My punishers will set up on the deployment edge for sure, especially with DS nerf.

If gravis armor gave an extra wound, I'd probably be all over the aggressors. But damage 2 is just too common in the game.

If you have scouts that will work ok. Otherwise if you go second they will do nothing against plenty of armies.

I'm okay with Aggressors being Glass Cannons. I'm not okay with them not having any delivery options outside SFtS and Repulsors.

I mean they are reasonably quick with a minimum 6” and average 8.5” move. White scars can use them well boosting their move to an 8” min and 10.5” average. With 18” range it gives them decent range. Space wolves can also outflank them though now that means delivery turn 2. I would opt for any of those over a repulsor. I would say they are best as Ravenguard, then BA or DA, then scars, then wolves and ultras. No other chapters really offer much.

So some anecdotal evidence on the games going further thing.

Was at the Barnyard Brawl this past weekend. I played 5 games, and given the bracket system that they used, I was kind of in the middle of the pack.

None of my games went fewer then 4 turns. I had two games go to 6 turns, 2 go to 5 turns, and 1 go to 4. None of the games ended due to time (3 hour games). I actually finished all games with never less then 45 minutes to spare.

As I said, anecdotal, but so far to me it seems that the FAQ's changes have helped the games go further.

Edit: Discussing it with a few other folks who attended the event, the overall experience seems to have led to more rounds being played then usual.

That’s interesting killswitch.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.
