My wife is getting into 40K and has decided that she likes the Salamanders because they will have good synergy with the Sisters of Battle when they finally come out with a new codex and plastics. So I told her that I would try and come up with a decent list considering the current meta and our group. We tend to play softer lists so I tried to make it tough but not overwhelming. We are mostly aiming at fun games rather than competative ones. I think that this list has a good mix of defense, offense, and mobility to make it interesting and fun to play. The idea is that the MoF holds the Aegis line with his servitors providing AA and AV in the backfield. The tac marines can come down whole in pods for a lot of bolters in the face or squaded if need be. Vulcan sits with the termies in the crisader as a hammer. The bikes are mobile AV firepower while the ironclads land in the mid to backfield and wreak what havoc they can. Please tell me what you think and what changes might be made. Our current meta is guard, GK, orks, and other marines.

A little light on troops for a 2k list. As cool and fluffly as a MotF is in a salamander list, I might consider replacing him with Talion and a scout squad on the gun. Or dropping the servitors and finding the points for a tac squad to back him up. I'd probably cut one of the ironclads for points if needed.

I agree with Nevelon. I would feel more comfortable with at least 3 troop choices at 2000 points if not 4. Your opponents will focus on those 20 tacticals to ensure you can't score. You could change the MotF for a captain on bike to make the bike squad able to score as troops but there are A LOT of options at this point level.

I would not recommend putting combi-flamers on the Stgs, if they have both melta weapons give them a combi melta to compliment it. I know the Salamanders are fluffy with all the melta, but keeping all your tactical squads the same will make you redundant and predictable. Do a full melta squad if you must with MG, MM and combi melta and then put maybe a combi-flamer, flamer and a Ml for some versatility, another tac sqaud would be wise though. The melta squads will not get in range of vehicles if they do not have a rhino.

Thanks for the input. I think I like the idea of replacing the servitors with a tac squad to back up the MoF.

I am not sure salamanders has synergy with sisters of battle.
In particular you use Vulkan's marines to supply melta and flamers and everything but not antiflyer and nothing ranged.
Then Sisters of battle come along with their mass of flamers and meltas, who just need something long range and some way to deal with flyers.

Vanilla marines could work in general with sisters.
Imperial guard is clearly the best ally though.

But...Salamanders are awesome, more so than Imperial guard. I may however be bias.

On a useful note as an old salamander player, maybe drop one termie and take a land raider redeemer with multi melta, the flamestorm cannons do not benefit from Vulcan but hey the Salamanders found the plans for it and used them first, so it is very fluffy, with those 40 spare points drop a dread and take another tac squad with either rhino or drop pod. If you dropped the master of the forge with the servitors combined with 10 points saved on the land raider redeemer over the land raider crusader you would have 190 points which pays for a captain on bike with artificer armour, thunder hammer and storm shield, who will make the bikes scoring and give your wife 4 troops and another tough HQ who can sponge wounds for the squad if needed.

Well that's my two pence worth, let me know how this goes, Good luck.

P.S your wife has good taste in armies!

EDIT: Turns out I am 5 points over, drop the combi wep from the third tac squad I mentioned or if you are a friendly group 5 points does not really matter.
