Strange, yes, acceptable, certainly. Nothing that you note is glaringly wrong.

I didn't even bother to read it before voting, all fluff is acceptable fluff for me. It's your plastic toys against my plastic toys. Just don't go reciting stories mid dice roll please

Don't see why the Alpha Legion wouldn't find some benefit in pretending to be world eaters, not sure that venerating Angron makes sense, because you don't get much less Alpha-ish than Angron.

A little confusing, and doesn't feel very in-character to me (seems odd to fake-worship when gods are real and react to your worship), but if that's what you want, nothing explicitly wrong with it.

This. God knows what the two people who voted no are thinking...

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

Maybe they consider fluff to be fluff within the loose body of material considered canon?

With that definition, AFAIK, AL haven't been shown to worship specific gods and, at least at one point, could only be undivided, so it would be unacceptable.

Though, yeah, they're your toy space mans. Make whatever story you want, or bash them together instead of rolling melee attacks, for all I care (as long as you're not bashing them against mine, that is )

As long as they sport that awesome white with blue trim, I'm cool with it. Although no doubt they'll have spolied it getting that nasty dried blood over everything ("It's hell to shift!").

Arguing that it is unreasonable to say that some fluff is bad/unacceptable in the background section of the forum is asinine. If you don't care about the background, why are you in this part of the forum and why are you bothering to comment? It's nonconstructive. Not trying to be a jerk but his right to play this army has nothing to do with the integrity of the army's fluff. Now I assume by posting this topic in the background section, you want an opinion on the integrity of the background based on precedent and established fluff. I could say that it's your army and you can do what you want, but if you honestly want an opinion based on actual fluff, here it is:

This fluff really doesn't make any sense and here's why:

- The World Eaters are literally the farthest you can possibly get from Alpha Legion. They are in-your-face, wrathful worshipers of the Blood God that don't have a subtle bone in their bodies. The Alpha Legion are schemers and infiltrators. They wage war in a very behind-the-scenes, sneaky way. Only when the need is most dire will they actually fight on the front lines, and even then, they're cunning strategists, not berzerkers.

- It makes no sense for the Alpha Legion adopt a World Eaters philosophy; their way of warfare is completely contradictory to everything the Alpha Legion stands for.

- It's unlikely that the Alpha Legion would let anyone with any motives other than the motives of the Legion within their ranks. If you're in the Alpha Legion, you're dedicated to the goals of the Legion. There's no time for collecting skulls and worshiping Chaos Gods. And you sure as hell better not have loyalty to another Primarch, or you're going to be on the Legion's bad side. And you don't want that.

- The Alpha Legion will never tell their secrets to those outside the Legion, and they almost never (and by almost never, I mean pretty much NEVER) let outsiders in their ranks. They have secret recruitment processes, but it can be reasonably deduced that they are regulated heavily by the Legion, and would not be at the discretion of a splinter group.

- If the main body of the Alpha Legion knew that the Alpha Legion's secrets were in the hands of a warband that was operating and recruiting almost completely independent from the Legion, they would stomp out the warband to preserve the Legion's integrity.

- The Alpha Legion are very prideful and passionate about the way they do things. They would never revere the World Eaters or Angron.

- Now, could the Alpha Legion ally with the World Eaters? Yes, they have allied with them and others in the past, but always to further their own goals above the others' and they always keep their distance. They would never adopt a World Eaters way of life. Not in a million years.

Now, you could say the Alpha Legion has infiltrated the World Eaters (as they probably have...), but to say they're actually working under World Eaters principles is pretty much completely contradictory to Alpha Legion fluff. Sorry if this came off as harsh, but I just can't see this as Alpha Legion fluff. The fluff's not bad, it just doesn't make any sense for Alpha Legion. Sounds like cool World Eaters warband, though!

I think it's for the best, honestly. It's mediocre/bad Alpha Legion fluff, but it's great World Eaters fluff!
