Hi guys, I have been asked to paint up the new chaos models for my gaming store and have begun painting the Heldrake in-time for the official release on saturday. They want me to paint it the blue scheme on the GW site but am worried I will ruin the job by painting the lightning badly so am wonderding if anyone can give me any suggestions or a good technique.

To me it looks so thin I think I may struggle painting the lines then highlighting them a lighter colour without ruining it, could I possibly incorporate washes or maybe a blue glaze over to help and could it be worth trimming a brush down to just a few bristles to get a finer line?

Thanks

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

You could try thinning the paint (I know, it's an old one) to make it more controllable and less blotchy. I would recommend a darkish blue (but still brighter than the armour) highlighted with a very bright blue (Ice Blue or whatever it is now) and finally highlighted with white.

A thin brush will help. Also, if you have one an airbrush couod be damn nifty for that kind of thing.

Same techniques, just smaller . Gotta remember, youtube can be educational too. Only thing i would really worry about is getting too much lightning on it and making it look "segmented" if that makes any sense.

No airbrush sadly :( and good vid, i'll have to experiment with a few of the tips to see if I can find something I would be happy enough to paint on the model.
