Hey everyone, I'm a fantasy player that played around with 40k back in 5th, but wan't to start in 6th. After reading the BA codex I really wanted to start a death company army that could stay fluffy, but have a solid chance of winning a game. Here is a 2k list I made, any comments to help a new guy out would be great, as I want to pick these models up asap

BA (1560 points)

Astrorath

Priest in power armour

5 Sanguinary Guard
2 fist and banner

9 death company with jump packs (Astrorath goes here)
1 fist, 1 hammer, 1 sword

8 death company
1 fist, 1 hammer, 1 sword (In stormraven)

Death Company Dread
talons and heavy flamer

5 Scouts with camo cloaks
bolters or snipers?

Stormraven

Space Wolves (440)

Rune Priest in power armour

10 Grey hunters
2 plasma and wolf standard

10 Grey hunters
2 plasma and wolf standard

The General Idea is the blood angels go on the offensive, minus the scouts, while the space wolves objective camp while supporting with mid-range support.

The list has one glaring weakness. Only 3 scoring units in 2k points game. Those GHs will be focussed down fast, same with the scouts.

I don't really see what the wolves bring to this list. You can get the same with tactical blood angels, and they get a ML for free for long range support. They also can combat squad unlike wolves, which will essentially double your scoring units. Just seems like your paying the allies tax but not getting any benefits.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Griddle is right about the small number of scoring units. As a rule of thumb, take one scoring unit for each 500 pts.

Where is the priest going? With the scouts? I would trade out the SG for a full assault squad and place the priest with them.

GH provide AP2 shots and are more fighty than BA tacticals. But your point on combat squads is valid, it is a very versatile option.

The tacs can take even more AP2 with a plasma cannon and 4 ablative wounds to protect it, as well as a plasma/melta in the other 1/2 of the combat squad.

Yep. I personally see their ability to take a heavy weapon more a hindrance than benefit. I would probably use the unit if I could get a second special weapon instead of a heavy. But that's my preference.

That was my impression as well, but I can see your point. The priest can join the wolves and provide some much needed survivability to the rear objective holders.

I may only have 3 scoring troops, but I have some mean killy denial units.

Only thing to do is play it a few times and worst care I can drop the sang guard and add a tactical squard.

Thanks for all the replies

Just so you know, the Priest only effects Blood Angels units. Some people love the heavy weapon on BA tacticals, it's all personal prefence. Good luck with your play testing.

I don't know how I missed that! good catch, thanks. With that in mind I got a game in last night and made a slight change to the list:

BA (1560 points)

Astrorath

5 Sanguinary Guard
2 fist and banner

9 death company with jump packs (Astrorath goes here)
1 hammer, 1 sword

8 death company
1 hammer, 1 sword (In stormraven)

Death Company Dread
talons and heavy flamer

10 Tactical Marines
plasma gun, plasma cannon, melta bombs on serg.

Stormraven

Space Wolves (440)

Rune Priest in power armour

10 Grey hunters
2 plasma and wolf standard

10 Grey hunters
2 plasma and wolf standard

This should give me a little more flexibility with the tactical marines combat squading if need be and a litte more long rang support with the plasma cannon.
