Subject: Blood Angels vs Daemons - best way to beat them?

I had my first ever game against Daemons today, I ran
a Librarian with Jump Pack
2 x Sanguinary Priests with jump packs
2 x Baal Predators
10 x Assault Squad - 2 x meltas+ power fist
10 x Assault Squad - 2 x meltas + power fist
I made the Priests join my Assault teams.
We played relix, I had 1000 points, my ally had 500, and I was against Chaos and Daemons as allies. I couldn't do any damage against the Skulltaker my friend had brought along.
What's the best way of defeating Daemons??
Thanks

What was he playing? "Deamons" is a pretty broad spectrum.

He had a skull taker,
3 blood crushers of Khorne and about 20 bloodletters

Well he's an assaulty army...what's more, an assaulty army that HAS to deep-strike, and can't assault after deep-striking. And is only basic infantry.
So, strafe and shoot. BA are pretty good at this, spread out and use mobility to your advantage. Sure he has FMCs, but you have jump infantry and fast vehicles.

Deamons are the hardest match up for me as a BA player. Against the MCs assault is a poor choice.
Dakka Baals can wound them down pretty decently
Priests are required to avoid all of their ap2/3 weapons
Sternguard are a strong counter to MC once they hit the groud
Ageis defence line/Stormravens are capable or putting the flying MCs down on the ground.
For me I list I made to counter the hard Deamon armies I face (while still avoiding armor)
Mephiston -> can take on the lesser deamon lords if given FNP
Librarian -> divination for squads
Tactical squads with plasma + devestaros behind a ageis line
Assault suads 1-2 for objective grabbing/popcorn blockers
Sternguard to take down any MC that hits the ground
Stormraven coming in to take n flyers
Priests
This runs 1500-1750

BA struggles against an elite/MC style assaulty army. Try some ML Devs instead of the Baals.

Death company with axes and a chappy put a ton of str 6 wounds out on the charge.
Shooty terms with a storm bolter fusalade followed by a ton of powerfist attacks work suprising well too.
Your assaulting options are limited though. Shooting is always the best way to deal with DS assault elements.
Remember as a new BA player: assault marines are not good for assaulting anything stronger than a standard marine squad(even then softer targets are better). Scoring, mobility, 2 melta guns, light infantry assault are their skills you must use them as such.

I think I'll start taking these down in future weeks, what's the best advice? Deep strike or drop pod, or even a land raider?

Yeh, that's what I quickly realised. I ran my Baals forward to the objective to cover it, the scouts came up behind and used them as cover, and they picked it up (we were playing Relic) I couldn't move my Baals too far as the scouts could only move 6" with the Relic, but would've been quickly in weapons range of the Chaos on the left.
I originally had a 1500pt list against Orks/Nids/potentially Eldar, so wasn't expecting to play a 1000pts vs Daemons lol
I love my Assault troops, they're ace but I've noticed they don't have too much bite against the heavier troops. Only my second ever game haha
I was tempted to take Gabriel Seth (Since I'm technically a Flesh Tearers player)
Thanks for everyone's advice so far though!

I run my termies in a sqd of 8 with a librarian HQ attached to cast prescience on the sqd, Also a Sang priest for the FNP. combi plasmas or meltas for 10 points on the ICs is worth it as well. It makes for a pretty nasty deathstar that can shoot and assault very well. I run a CML in it too.
Like I said jump pack assault troops are for grabbing objectives, melta gunning tanks and bastions, and being a general mobile threat. IG, Tau, some eldar, nercon warriors, gaunts, and other weak save, 3 toughness units are all you should charge except in a tactical emergency.
As far as a death company there are many opinions, and much depends on your list. I run mine in a stormraven but it is by far the most dangerous option. but I need the backfield alpha strike that it provides to my army. The Land raider is the best option IMO but also the most expensive( in both dollars and points). A drop pod is ok but It will leave them open to counter charge, which is bad because if they are not charging they are close to as poor as normal marines. I would not run them in a pod unless you have at least a few squads/dreds in pods to drop with them to spread out the threat for the opponent.
Bottom line is the death company while potentially amazing on the charge is not forgiving of tactical errors and is difficult to play well all the time. Even more so if you decide to put them in a stormraven or a drop pod.
Seth is ok when throwing dice with you buddy's but if power building is what you are after 2 Libbys are the most points effective HQs in the codex IMO.
Hope my insight has help you some, Other than a few IG games I've been playing my BAs non stop since 6th came out and I'm have a ton of fun with them.

You've helped massively! Thanks
I definitely need something with more bite, I was amazed at how quickly the daemons changed things
Automatically Appended Next Post: Thanks to the new GW Chaos release this weekend, guess who I'm facing next week? haha
It looks as though it'll be a 3,000 point game of various Space Marines vs Chaos, each player bringing 1000 each
I'm gonna run Terminators with a Librarian and Sang Priest, but not sure what else. do I take vehicles for their armour or do i take devastators for the long range missiles?
