I've painted up a single blood angel assault marine, just for a bit of a change from my usual Space Marine colours of purple/yellow really. Also to be a test figure for Liquitex Acrylic Spray Paint.
Reasonably happy with the spray, although it was a little thicker than I would've liked. Care has to be taken not to gunk up detail.

I've spent a few hours a night for 3 days on this figure, just got the base and a touch of shading left to do really.

What do you think? Critique and advice would be appriciated

Thanks
The red, here's how it went down;

Spray cadmium red Liquitex Acrylic Spray Paint, which as i mentioned is a tad thick, it's probably worth using army painter or some other tried and tested colour spray. I was just testing out a little free sample 30ml can I received with some series 7 brushes
Once dry Wash with Carroburg Crimson
Then some thinned Mephistion Red leaving the recesses,
Then a layer of 50/50 Blood Red and Mephistion Red.
Then a Seraphim Sepia Wash.
Then a layer of blood red,
Then 50/50 blood red mixed with wild rider red
Then wild rider red,
Then 50/50 Wild Rider Red mixed with Firery Orange (an old citadel colour, unsure what the new fiery orange name is sorry)
Then Firey Orange
Then fiery orange mixed with Yriel Yellow.

All paint was thinned a lot with water/flow aid/ retarder mixture. And some layers took 2 coats for an even coverage.
As i moved up towards the yellow i was covering less and less of the plate each time. But I'm feeling like I could make the transition smoother by wet blending or somethin
Just something for me to work at if I do some more Blood Angels (was kind of a one off figure really)

Very good job. I especially like the quality work on the grenades and the helmet.

Very nice, cant help but think you're over complicating the red.

Looks pretty good. Agree that you could cut out a few steps and achieve similar results.

Thanks for all the comments guys
Am really pleased with the yellow, but i do yellow weapon casings and shoulder trim against a purple armour for my army and so get a fair bit of practise with yellows.
I find Zandri Dust with a sepia wash works nicely as a base for yellow's.
Agree'd on the red being overly complicated, you can't really see all those layers in the picture, I just kept going untill I liked it I'l try another chapter in a colour I don't paint very often the next time I get a bit sick of purple/yellow/bone marines! hehe
