I remember reading somewhere that when the Emperor mind-beamed Horus the Chaos Gods didn't retreat from Horus due to imminent critical existence failure, but due to being afraid. Unfortunately, I no longer remember where I read it. Did I fall afoul of some cleverly disguised fan-created fluff or did I read it in something GW had a hand in creating?

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back. |

Doesn't say they're afraid IIRC. Horus had failed by that point, so they simply abandoned him.

The Chaos gods are afraid of the Emperor, he wasn't/isn't called the anathema for nothing imho.

Hey, Nurgle would be the only one afraid of the Emperor.
Slaanesh is only capable of pleasure and the lust for it.
Khorne is only capable of rage.
Tzeentch is only capable of hope and optimism.
The God's minions, whose emotions aren't as pure, might feel fear.

I still am not quite sure why they call Him the anethma though, yes He's the opposite of what they represent but He was basically doing the wrong thing with His 'Atheism...atheism everywhere!' idea which seems to have been a plan to try and starve the gods when they are fueled by emotion, not religious worship.
