Hi,

I've been running a 1000 point C:SM UM list. I have 2 vanilla dreds in it.

I've recently expanded my collection with some THSS Terms in a LRR.

I'm wondering how I can use my dreds with these things under the new 6th ed rules. I was thinking I can use the 2 dreds as escorts to help the LRR get to where it needs to go.

What loadout would you suggest for the dred escorts? I was thinking dual laser cannons with ML.

I think you might find more help in the Tactics section!

Dreads are a different class than a LR w/ Termis. If your opponent has multiple str weaponry, they will focus Str 9+, Melta, Ordance at your LR, while Str 6~8 will focus on the Dreads. Unless you use them as a screen to grant cover saves, it's not going to help... and you want that LRR to be rolling in their face ASAP to deliver sweet Hammernator justice!

The assault dread has lost some teeth in 6E outside of the BA unit blenders of doom. The best support dread is the Rifleman, or 2x TL Autocannons. This configuration will shred light transports, spilling out the creamy goodness for your LRR to either torch or assault.

A good support to a landraider may be some vindicators. They are FA13 and require the same fire power to take out as the LRR, you just have to watch side armor exposure. You then give your opponent multiple nasty high armor vehicles to deal with.

Hope that helps (and it's just one dude's opinion. I'm bad with landraiders, but I play Wolves)

Shine on, Kaldor Dayglow!

I was thinking of that but this seemed less about concrete tactics and more about general list considerations.
