Haven't posted in a long time and am thinking about getting back into 40K a little bit after a long time out. I've been looking over the new rules and one thing that came to my orky mind was this issue of buildings being targeted (forgive me if this was in 5th edition, I missed it) I think a mek's KFF should give a building a 5+ "cover save"!

Hear me out before you jump on it and say no. I know it says in the rules that a "unit" gets a cover save but I would argue that, at least in terms of fluff, a building with a mek in it should get one too, provided it is small enough. A mek's KFF would, presumable, project out in a hemisphere up to 6". If you had a building of the small type (less than 6X6X6), it should fit within the mek's KFF "bubble". I see no reason why it shouldn't, therefore, also receive the benefit of a KFF save just as any unit would.

Again, I know what the rules literally say, but I was wondering what everyone else though. Thanks

I get a vision of a Big Mek standing on top of a bunker taunting everyone, and it makes me smile

I'd be okay with my opponent doing this with some restrictions.

If an entire facing is covered by the 6" bubble, it gets the save.
If >25% of a facing is covered it gets a 6+ save.
If less than that is covered there is no save.
