Ok, thanks to our sponsors we have £1000 to give away in hobby stuff!
But firstly :
What is Miniwarbid.com?
Miniwarbid.com is an auction portal, focused on our hobby, Wargaming.
You can Buy, Sell or issue Art Commissions in order to get the best Value for Money, but most import_antly you can help sick and disabled children whose families are not in the financial position to pay for their healthcare.
Once a month, starting from January 2013 Miniwarbid will select one of these children, All the profits from setting an auction on Miniwarbid will be allocated to sick and disabled children. If you know of a family that requires financial support please contact us on support@miniwarbid.com. Please note that there needs to be a website describing the child’s full medical condition.
Why starting from Jan 2013?
Due to us being relatively new, we need to gain some momentum and I'm positive that we will!
MWB is a non for profit organization. We do not charge the same way for sales as other Auction sites; we are here to support our hobby.
So why are we are doing this?
As I have said, other Auction sites charge us 10% from sales + insertion fees and they just consume the profit!
We want to take some of this huge Corporation profit and give away to unfortunate children who need it more than they do!
The total cost of setting up an auction is £0.45. We would like to charge less but MWB only accepts payment through Paypal and their charges are as follows, £0.20 plus a 3.4% per transaction fee, this leaves approx £ 0.23 from each auction that will go into the pot of money to be donated.
MWB will make no money out of the transaction !!!
Total cost of auctions do vary and here are a few examples:
Up to 3 of the same items per one auction is £0.45,
For 4-6 items in one auction is £0.65 and,
7 and more of the same items in one auction is £0.75
If you have a shop on other auction sites or if you are private seller, MiniWarBid can save you 500%+ on your final fees!
eg. If you were to sell 15 items a month on an auction site such as Ebay with “Buy It now” (with an average cost of each item at £15) you would have to pay Ebay - £22.50 plus a £6 insertion fee!
With MiniWarBid that same scenario will only cost you £6.75, you just saved £21.75!!!!
That's a 422% save, not only that you have just helped an unfortunate child in the process!
You must agree with me that this is a better way to go!
You may think, “but auction sites such as Ebay are popular !”
Well our aim is to make MWB even more popular!
After all, the idea of helping under privileged children and save you some money on auctions has got to be a good one!
You can help us by joining our campaign, just spread word about us on other hobby portals and “like” our Facebook page, add link on your Ebay auctions to MWB ones! We will in the same time spread our mission on every hobby portal we know!
But there is more!
Miniwarbid is also giving you the opportunity to get Value For Money if you need any art commissioning.
For only £1 you can setup reverse auctions for any models you want to get painted. It will save you both time and money!
Let the best painters in the world bid for your painting commissions, and select the one who you see as the best Value for you!
The £1 that you pay will be fully (after tax) allocated to child we are supporting in that month.
Alternatively, if you have any old models, cards or board games and you don’t need them any more we can sell these on your behalf.
Send the models to us and we will refund the P&P, we will sell your unwanted items and forward 50% of the sales price to you via either a cheque or PayPal, the remaining 50% will be donated to the MWB children's charity being supported in that month or even the child your nominate!
Please contact us on support@miniwarbid.com for more info.
Back to the £1000 give away..............
All you have to do is just create an account with Minwarbid.com AND "like" our Facebook page, that’s all J.
We will then draw three names from the pool,
1st prize is £500 of hobby stuff
2nd is £300
3rd is £200,
You choose what you want: Cards, Models, Painting Commission, Board Games, … anything that is related with the wargaming hobbyJ and we will pay for it!
The draw will take place on the 15th December, just in time for your Christmas shopping!

The reverse auctions thing for commission painters is a really cool idea, should make it easier for them to find work.

Ha.
Even missed that part.
That's a feature you should definitely make a bit more visible in promoting the site!

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for all emails and comments!
Looks like some information about MWB require clarification :
1. The Total cost to set an Auction on MWB is £0.45 ( 1 to 4 of the same items in one auction if they are set as “buy it now” (ea. Bitz), if you want to sell more items per one auction (ea. lots of the same Bitz ) the cost goes up : 4 – 6 same bitz in one auction = £0.65, 7 to infinite = £0.75. You only play for setting up an auction! Not for each transaction!
Example 1 : Setting one auction and selling 100 bitz the total cost is £0.75
Example 2 : Selling one auction for an Army for £600 cost you in Total £0.45……
2. MWB is non-profit organization. ALL MWB profit goes away, as per our statement. So, yes, we are not making any money from it! More on Miniwarbid.com
Personally I think it’s the way to go, take profit from Ebay or other Corporation and give it away. That’s why we need you help in getting the MiniWarBid recognised!
3. New feature is going to be introduced on Sunday 14th October. “Promotional Code”, which you can use it to set free auctions or commissions with Miniwarbid. All new and current users will get 10 of those codes, for those who already set an auction or will get an auction by 14th on MWB we will give away 2 extra codes for each auction.
4. We need your help, please spread out word about us in your Wargaming clubs!

You may want to change the promo text on your main page: I cannot save 422% unless you give me money.
If it costs me £28.50 (£22.50 + £6 insertion fees) to list items on eBay and £6.75 to do the same on your site I save £21.75, or rather about 76% of £28.50.
So in the transaction you use, using miniwarbid.com will cost me about 24% of the cost on eBay, or just less than a quarter.
I mention this as it makes the site look and sound less like a charity site and more like a 419 scam.

I was thinking the same. Also, if so will everything be direct conversion currrency wise? If so that will really hurt potential US customers, as the GBP to USD rate is terrible for us.

heh, logical error ,well, cost of £6.75 = paying 4.22 times less to cost of £28.50, 4.22 = 422%
But I will get that changed to more logical description.
Something important to note:
The portal only works with Paypal. Payments between Buyer - Seller goes, same as on Ebay, trough Paypal, MiniWarbid is only notified when the Payment between Buyer-Seller is successfully (same as on ebay or any other online shop).
in general, MWB is in terms of functionality is similar to Ebay and PayPal is giving us enough security to stop any scams etcetera.

Hi!
I've tried to spread word, the idea is great for an action site for tabletop games only with fewer fees.
I hope you expand to other countries and currencies as soon as you can
I registered with Dakka just to thank you for the generous contest as well.

5. As soon streams goes up, we will get banners on Bols and Warseer! Dakkadakka has one already
6. Two ebay shops are moving to MWB this weekend!!! Yeah !
7. If you want to start your own shop with MWB or you own one on ebay we could give you some amount of free auctions to move your stock from ebay to MWB, contact me on support@miniwarbid.com

Thanks for update, this is win-win situation for me as I am fed up with feebay charges.
I'll move some of my auctions to mwb, but in the same time I'll keep them on ebay (with annotation that they are also advertised on your portal and can be brought for less, after all I can lower the prices without this feebay ridiculous charges ), hopefully this will help. Also I will send to you name of one kid that I would like you to add to the supporting kids list.
Thanks, keep it up and don't give up, it will take some time before peoples realise the benefits of this portal, especially the reversed auction for art commission (I love that bit, you should ask some painters/ painting companies to make for you some free adverts on their Facebook or youtube accounts).

Yeah. Breaking in a new site is tough. Internet crowds just gravitate naturally to the known, big names.
This one has so much potential.
As I did a small test-auction on the site (I am not much of an e-retailer either way), I would have to say that the small picture limit might well be a problem for painters/artists (much more so than for bitz-sellers).
I think the pic I uploaded was cropped to 300 or so px (from over 4000, which might've been too large perhaps, I admit).
Hosting lots of large pics obviously eats bandwidth and all that.. but I think a bit more freedom to go "visual" would help.

Well, I went to look at this site, and got put off by 2 things (one is just a niggle).
Part of the registration asks for my Paypal logon details.
Other sites redirect to Paypal for the payment to be taken, and do not store the account info.
Is there really a need to put this in there?
There is no certificate on the registration page keeping the details safe, so I'd prefer not to put any of mine there.
I prefer to keep that kind of thing seperate from anyone, nothing personal.
The other was the layout of the T & Cs page.
I am currently using IE7 (Work PC), and the formatting shoved lots of the paragraphs up against the sides of the page. It made reading the page very difficult.
Whatever, I'll be pointing my local club to this site, as I know a lot of them sell their stuff on the usual sites.

Hi there, thanks for feedback. Please read the MWB terms and conditions, under "Privacy" bullet:
"Privacy
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We use your information only as described in the Terms and Conditions. We view protection of users' privacy as a very important community principle. We store and process your information on computers located in Europe that are protected by physical as well as technological security devices. You can access and modify the information you provide us and choose not to receive certain communications by signing-in to your account."
Also , you don't have to provide your real paypal account (or other data) as long as you don't want to sell on Miniwarbid.
The system is automated, same as on eBay or any other auction website/online shops. So, in order to conduct the payment for item you will be redirected to paypal, where you can enter real paypal login . From programming point of view is exactly same as on eBay.
Also, the reason why seller needs to enter correct paypal account is to avoid any frustrations in buyer/seller payment delays.
Thanks for support

Thanks for a quick reply.
I read the registration page wrong, and thought it wanted the Paypal logon info, including password.
Doh. That left nowhere for the email that Miniwarbid could get me. That's all sorted now.
It's good to see a privacy like yours, but I get a lot of spam emails when sites have been hacked or hijacked, and had my details sold on.
Without a Verisign-type security, the odds are slightly higher, but I'll give it a go anyway.
Good luck with the site.

hehe, as I said, you can create account with any name/surname if you feel unsafe. But then you will have to indicate to the seller to send the item you bought to your paypal address/name ect.
Regarding data security, server provider has ISO 27001:2005, most of the UK banks working on the same ISO 27001:2005 standards it must be safe

Thanks to your feedbacks MBW is taking a new approach
So the biggest changes are :
1. No more fees for listings, never! That's correct MWB will never charge you for anything, commissions etc.! Check your account, it just be loaded with 999 free listings. If you ran out just contact us at support@miniwarbid.com to top up.
2. Obviously our Charity missions stays unchanged, we are going to generate income through Advertising at MEB (AdWords banners soon So, you wont have to list items to help in our missions, just your "visits" at miniwarbid.com are enough
3. Also, we are still accepting models as a donation (we take anything, bitz, broken models, badly painted, board games etc.) bear in mind, for you it might be a non-value item but for somebody it might be a good source of spare parts. So if you have any models you would like to donate please contact us at support@miniwarbid.com for more info.
4. More to come
