So i was wondering how do the death guard operate along side allies without slowly killing them all. I know they took part in the 13th crusade along side Abbadon and i know they have cultists but i don't understand how they don't deviate there own cultists with there plagues. In the Blood Gorgons novel there cultist wear septic suites to stop them contracting the deadly plagues from the plague marines but surely all Nurgle cultists wont have access to that type of equipment. Is it that Nurgle protects them because they are not worthy of the plagues? and as for the other traitor legions how would they stop the disease from gripping them and slowly whittling there numbers down? As they did in the blood Gorgon's novel with the captive Astartes.

Well, AFAIK if you have Typhus in yer army, you can upgrade your cultists to zombies, so tahts something.

Well, as far as the other Traitor Marines goes, their power armor and enhanced super-human bodies should be able to cope with the diseases carried by Plague Marines as long as they keep a short distance. As for cultists of the other gods, I don't think they have any protection and problably die in droves, but thats the thing about cultists...theres always more to take their place.

Cultists close to Plague Marines will die and become plague zombies, or otherwise have some sort of gas mask (as molded on some of the models)

Nurgle-affiliated CSM warbands more or less do their own thing and keep their distance (or vice versa) from other warbands. In both the Siege of Vraks and 13th Black Crusade, Death Guard/affiliated forces basically rampaged about spreading the glory of Nurgle while their allies conducted other operations far away.

Grandfather Nurgle protects and cherishes his children. Any cultists following a Death Guard warband will be dedicated to Nurgle. They will contract the plagues the warband carries, but while their bodies will be ravaged, they will live through it feeling very little pain. This is how the Death Guard work, they aren't immune to the plagues - they already have it. But they live on.
