Played my first battle with 6th CSM. Must say I really like 6th editon.
My friend played Death Guard, his army was something like this
HQ:
Typhus
Deamon prince, nurgle, level 3 psyker, lots of upgrades(PA, wings, Kharns flamer), nurgle spells

Troops:
Two unit of 8 Plauge marines with 2 plasma guns and champion with combi-plasma and PF, both in Rhinos with havoc launchers

Heavy support:
3 units with 2 Obliterators in each one, with veterans of the long war and mark of nurgle

My Word bearers
HQ:
Dark Apostle, with MOT and mutation
Deamon Prince of Tzeentch, Level 1 psyker, PA, wings

Elites
Hellbrute, with 2 PF with bulit in heavy flamers

Troops
3 units of 20 ccw Cultists with flamers

A unit of 6 CSM, with MoS,( ccw, bolter, bolt pistol), melta, icon of vengeance champion with combi melta and power sword, Veterans of the long war, in Rhino with diringe caster and combi melta

Unit of 8 CSm with MoK(ccw, bolt pistol), flamer, icon of vengeance, champion with chainaxe and combi flamer, Veterans of the long war, in rhino with diringe caster and combi flamer

Heavy support
3 units with 1 Obliterator in each one, with Mon and Veterans of the long war

Deployment was vanguard and mission was emperors will
The battlefield was covered with lots of ruins, it looked more like cities of death than standard 40k battle, but we like to play with lots of terrain.

He deployed first and I failed to seize initative. Death guard decided to keep deamon prince, typhus and one unit of obliterators in reserves, to deep strike. I put my deamon prince and one cultist unit in reserves.
My opponent is new to this game and he made some mistakes in deployment- he put his outnumbered troops away from his side objective, although in the end it didn`t matter too much anyways.
I deployed Dark apostle in rhino with 6 CSM, and surrounded it with my cultist, other rhino with 8 marines was deployed nearby, and my obliterators were scattered all over the battlefield. We rolled for night fighting and rolled 3. No NF fist turn.
His warlord was Typhus because of his warlord trait to gain fear. Mine was Deamon prince(only when I got home i realised DP ld is 9, and Apostles is 10, so he had to be warlord ). Anyways, I took personal trait, and got Legendary fighter(1 VP for each character killed in challenge)

Death Guard, first turn
He moved his Rhinos with Plague marines toward my objectiv and moved a bit with his Obliterators. In shooting phase, plasma cannons killed a dozen of so cultist. He also glanced one rhino(with Dark apostle). Cultists passed their Ld test thanks to Dark apostles Ld bubble.

Word Bearers, first turn:
I moved khone CSM rhino to his objective, moving flat out. Other rhino and hellbrute moved towards my objective, one cultist unit stayed in the back(but still within 6" of Dark apostle) and another moved alonside hellbrute and rhino. Obliterators moved fowards and opened fire, and after dust settled, leading rhino was nothing but a hole in the ground. First blood to Word Bearers!

Death guard, second turn:
Only Typhus came form reserves and with a pinpoint accuracy he teleported behind my rhion with Dark apostle and cultists. Plauge marines(one form the destroyed rhino) decided to advance on foot getting dangerously close to my objective. But they would first have to bring down hellbrute and CSM with MoS. His other Rhion advanced and came to stop on the same place where fist rhino was destroyed. One of his Obliterators units moved into melta range of my rhino with CSM(khorne). We both forgot that you must fire different weapons with Obliterators every turn He opened fire with his Obliterators but my rhinos survived thanks to bad rolls(2 mulitimelta shot within 12" failed to hit).He killed all but 5 cultist in one of my unit with havoc launcher. Plauge marines stunned Hellbrute, but I hoped he would go crazy

Word Bearers,second turn:
Deamon prince came from reserves, flying. He used vector strike against Typhus, but failed to penetrate terminator armour. Cultist too came form reserves and decided to prove their skill against Typhus(bad idea ). Hellbrute rolled his crazy roll and got 1. Fire every weapon twice . I wanted to see how PF kill Plauge marines, but had to satisfy with burning them.
5 cultists turned to face Typhus, and Dark Apostle disembarked from rhino so they would be in 6" ld radius(Can I do this? Disembark with IC while squad remains inside transport?I know I could do it in 5th edition.) MoS CSM in rhino moved to get in range with meltas to pop his other rhino. But 3 meltas weren`t enough. CSM(MoK) flamed approaching obliterators, but failed to penetrate they armour. Cultist targeted Typhus, but with no effect. Hellbrute flamed Plauge marines, and killed 2 or 3. One of my obliterators destroyed his other rhino, and other 2 fired plasma cannons on his weakend Plauge marines, with only 3 left. In assault phase 5 cultist charged Typhus. Champion challenged Typhus, and managed to wound him! Typhus failed his armour and FnP save, but killed champion in return(and gained +1 initiative from rewards table). Other 4 cultist piled in to continue fight.

Death Guard, third turn:
His Deamon prince failed to come from reserves once again, but 3rd Obliterator unit had better luck, teleporting between my 2 Obliterators and Helbrute. He moved 3 Plauge marines to his objective, and other unit toward mine. Obliterators finnaly managed to kill rhino containing CSM with MoK. Another unit destroyed Hellbrute with precise multimelta fire. Third unit wounded one of my obliterators . Plauge marines tried to destroy other rhino with their plasma guns, but failed. And then unexpectedly Obliterators charged my khorne CSM . I passed my counter attack test, and heavy fighting left 2 of my CSM standing(icon bearer and champion), while Obliterators took a wound. Typhus killed of remaining 4 cultists.

Word Bearers, third turn:
Dark apostle joined 2nd cultist unit. 3rd cultist unit(one that came from reserves) moved to intecept Typhus. Deamon prince decided to get into fight with Obliterators and khorne CSM. Two of my obliterators fired with plasma guns on my opponents 3rd Obliterators unit(one that teleported in), but failed to wound them. So they charged. MoS CSM stayed in rhino and fired meltas , but didn` t kill any Plauge marines. Cultists tried to wound Typhus with their pistols, but couldn` t do any damage. So they too charged(only one unit, without Dark apostle). In combat, Deamon prince killed only one obliterator, and obliterator killed icon bearer leaving only champion standing. My obliterators killed one of his, taking one wound in return. Cultist champion challenged Typhus and he to managed to wound him ! Cultist champions WTF. Typhus killed him and gained +1 Ws.

Death Guard, fourth turn:
His Deamon prince finnaly arrrived, and landed between combat where my deamon prince and CSM champion fought Obliterator and my cultist unit with Dark apostle. His Plague marine unit of 3 advanced once more to his objective(they stilled need some 12ˇor so to reach it). Other Plauge marine unit tried to destroy my rhino and failed again. In combat, my Obliterators killed his(but only one remained). Demonprince killed Obliterator, and Typhus routed my cultists who then ran off table.

Word Bearers, fourh turn:
My Prince turned his demonic gaze to 3 Plauge marines. Champion of Khorne tried to find some cover, while MoS CSM wisely stayed in their rhino. Dark Apostle and his cultist unit(around 10 remaining) moved head on to meet Typhus. One of my Obliterators did a wound to Typhus(3rd wound) with his plasma gun, and other one killed of some Plague marines who where near my objective. My deamon prince failed to kill Plauge champion but took no wound in return. Dark apostle challenged Typhus, and in resulting combat nobody was wounded(thanks to sigl of corruption).

Death Guard, fifth turn:
Unengaged Plauge marine unit tried to get within 3" of my objective but rolled poorly for their difficult terrian test. Deamon prince flew to challenge my Deamon prince. Somebody killed CSM khorne champion. Deamon prince got on his charge distance and failed it. My deamon prince killed Plauge chamipon and was rewarded with Shred URS. Dark apostle was denied of his prize when Typhus deamon weapon turned against him and killed him Another VP for me(slay the warlord)

Word Beareres,fifht turn:
I disembarked with my CSM to take the objective. Deamon prince killed of remaining 2 Plauge Marines. We rolled to see if game continues...and got 2.

Victory for Word Bearers! 5VP:0VP(I dont count plauge champion Deamon prince killed in challanege because he shouldnt be warlord in a first place)

It was a great game, I really enjoy 6th edition. My opponent had some bad roll, and being new to the game made a few deployment mistakes.
I must say I wasnt impressed with Deamon prince, but cant really tell from one game. But cultist backed with Dark apostle will always have a place in my army, I just love the models(of cultists), and 3++ save on Dark apostle is really nice, although his damage output isnt that great. Next time I post a battle report I`ll try to take some pictures, because with textual report is so hard to present a battle.((and so you could enjoy in my miniatures and terrain )

I'm really tempted to do a plague zombie army with Typhus. Hearing the new codex is very good adds to the possibility. Is it a good idea?

Moving on, grats on the win, and mistakes like the HQ cock up happen a lot. Shame to see the Nurgle guy did so poor. That is a terrifyingly low model count for 1500 on his part. He must have spent a lot of points on that prince ;_;

Yes, his Deamon prince was like 300+ points, because we both made lists in just a few minutes. He would really benefit from some cheap scoring troops-zombies. I think Typhus-zombie list is a good idea, but then again I think every themed list is a good idea. Maybe try it out with proxies or see how other people do with it.

To Death Guard-
Run more plague marines and cultists, make one 30 man cultist unit plague zombies.
I ran 30 plague zombies the other night.
This is an equation of what they did...
Plague zombies + good rolling + terminators = dead terminators!

after the game we discussed about his list and agreed he needs more troop choices and zombies are perfect for that role. Next game will be much harder for me
