Subject: Night Attacker Warlord Trait

Morphing Obliterator

Quick question regarding the Night Attacker trait, on my game this weekend my opponent got this trait and we were in doubt as in does it let you choose to be or not to be night at the first turn.
He didn't want it to be night fighting so as I read it if he chooses not to you still roll the die, since it only says you don't if you do want it to happen. And he was saying that he could just choose and therefore never was a need to roll.
Anyway at the end I allowed since it seemed like an useless trait without letting you choose, ironically I rolled my trait on the CSM traits and got my whole army causing fear... against SM... so that let me thinking if my trait is completely useless against 80% of the codexes maybe the night one is useless as well unless you do want the night at the first turn.
So... which is it? can you choose if the rules are on/off at the beginning or you can only choose if they are on, but if they aren't you still roll and maybe you get them to be effective on turn one?

It allows you to choose if the Night Fight rule is used at all. However, if you choose to use it, it happens automatically on Turn 1.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Ohhh, so if you choose not to you never roll for it on the game not even at the 5th turn... that makes sense

What if both people rolled up this same trait and both want the opposite of each other?
Do you dice off for it?

Roll off or come to an agreement such as the traits cancel each other out and you follow the normal NF rules.
