I'm thinking of placing a forgeworld order and i wanted to know how people felt about a few of the models that are put out under both brands. in particular im curious about how the khorne and nurgle marines looo between the two. im guessing FW is a bit nicer but about twice as much since i need a box of regular sm/csm for the rest of.the.bits. Not entirely sure if it's worth the money.

I'm also.debating between a storm eagle (potentially to count as a storm raven) and a.storm raven with the.chapterhouse.extension kit. Either option costs about the.same so im leaning towards the storm eagle for simplicity. Really I'm largely curious which option makes the best poor man's thunderhawk.

Forgeworld sculpts are almost always better, but the prices are higher and the material is harder to put together. If the same thing is available in plastic and of comparable quality I'll get it instead. Those Plague marine and Khorne Berserker kits are leagues ahead of the Citadel sculpts though, and as long as you can ding up the legs to make the armor match the Plague Marine torsos, they'll look excellent.

Yeah, I try to stick to plastic as much as is feasible myself. Think I'm going to try and hunt down some side-by-side shots of the plastic and Forge World Berserkers; I'm probably going to field them as Khorne Chosen instead of Berserkers anyways, so the sculpted WE symbols are just going to get in the way in that case. Mostly balking at paying twice as much per model though, heh.

I like FW because (atleast where I am) almost no one has any FW models. It helps create a more unique army in my opinion

The forge world bits are amazing, but pricey. I am just finishing up my chaos renegades army minis and while they look amazing with the forge world conversion parts, the army was much more expensive to build because of them. If you have the money they are worth the cost. If you need to save money just go with the plastics. The full plastic minis are easier to put together with plastic cement only needed and no super glue. They are also easier to convert. Of course there is less need to convert the FW pieces in the first place, so that isn't as big a deal.

On the other side either or works fine, really. If the cost is similar, go with what works more easily for you.

My chaos armies have plenty of forge world minis in them and they just look awesome because of it.

I love FW bits. They're a bit pricey to make an entire army from them, but I like to add units and bits to my existing army.

I especially love the Mark III armor.

This. They're also of an inferior quality material. FW casts in resin, the same material that will melt and warp if kept in a hot car for a half an hour. It's also more brittle, and rumor says, more toxic.

You pay a lot more for something that's cast worse in a worse quality material. The only advantage that you gain is that some of the detail work on their models is truly amazing.
