Hi there, I've a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers for and this seemed like a good place to ask them.
1. If I join a Wolf Guard to a squad as a Pack Leader, does the whole squad benefit from Precision Shots/Strikes or just the Wolf Guard? Common sense suggests the latter but in the SW FAQ on the GW site the wording is fairly unclear.
2. Strength of a Wolf Lord mounted a Thunderwolf and armed with a Frost Axe, is his Strength 6 or 7? I'm fairly sure that it's 7, Thunderwolf increases the Wolf Lord's base characteristic by 1 (from 4) and the Frost Axe adds 2. But my brother claims bs and stacking penalties.
3. Wolf Guard wargear. How many points does a Wolf Guard with Thunderhammer and Stormshield cost? The language in the Codex is a little ambiguous: "Thunder hammer or storm shield - 25 points per model" but I want both, do I pay the cost twice? Following on from this, do I have to buy Wolf Claws twice if I want to use them as a pair? And do either of them get to keep their Bolt Pistols?
BONUS stupid question: How many dice does one roll to scatter Deep Striking units? The rules on Pg.36 of the rulebook doesn't actually say.
Thanks in advance and apologies if these are fairly obvious answers.

Just the Wolf Guard since he's the only character.
BONUS stupid question: How many dice does one roll to scatter Deep Striking units? The rules on Pg.36 of the rulebook doesn't actually say.
Rolling for scatter is always 2 dice plus the scatter die. Page 6.

1. Who is a character, characters only get the benefit. So only the WG pack leader gets the benefit.
2. 7. 5+2 =7. The stat of a wolf lord is S5. The axe gives +2, anyone that argues that it is not 7 had better go back to primary school and learn their addition again.
3. Not ambiguous at all. 25 for one or the other.
If you want two claws you buy two claws. If you want thunderhammer and stormsheild pay for both.
In either case you loose the pistol/ ccw.
Pg. 36 is clear. Automatically Appended Next Post: rigeld2 wrote:

Unless you have a rule like DOA for BA or tactilce precision with Dante.

Only the Wolf Guards who are Pack Leaders.
But my brother claims and stacking penalties.
Unless otherwise specified bonuses stack. An example of bonuses not stacking would be a unit of Warlocks where multiple models have the Enhance power.
3. Wolf Guard wargear. How many points does a Wolf Guard with Thunderhammer and Stormshield cost? You replace the CCW for one, and the bolt pistol for the other. Yes you need to buy two to get a pair. No as you have to trade out the pistol to get both items.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Thanks for the replies, cleared a few thinks up for me.
Regarding losing bolt pistols, just seemed a little odd that I'd lose them when Grey Hunters get Bolter, Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon as standard wargear.

#2 : Thunderwolf + lord has S5. Frost axe gives it +2 S attacking at Init. 1. So strength 7 total. But...seriously? Why take a frost axe with strength 7 at Init 1 for 25 points, when you could take a power fist and have strength 10 at Init 1 for the same points? Honestly people. Frost weapons are for suckers.

Yep an axe is crap and a wolf claw is better than a blade in every way. Only thing I'd put a frost axe on might be a wg attacked to scouts, 4 attacks on the charge as opposed to 3.

And you pay more to get an invulnerable save. Power fist and storm sheild would work better for keeping your lord safe while kicking enemies to the curb.

Yes. You can get a 4+ invuln with the belt of russ and keep your bolt pistol, or you can get a 3+ invuln with the storm shield for 5 more points. So once you've spent points on a mount, a weapon and an invulnerable save, you have invested so much in this guy that you'll need to give him eternal warrior too. By that time, you've spent 250+ points on a single model and you'll need to ask yourself if you wouldn't be better off with a land raider or 5 stock TWC.

Except that the Land Raider is not the mandatory HQ choice.

Also a landraider cannot move up to 24" and smash the gak out of any unit in the game. Bugger to cover saves, 1st turn in combat is very useful, especially when night fighting happens.

Show me a Space Wolf player who doesn't take a rune priest, and I'll show you a WH40K forum that thinks he's a fool. You don't have to pick a wolf lord as your HQ.

You could do the same thing with 5 TWC. And they'll last longer. Just sayin'.

LR's can also die to one Meltagun shot, TWC wolf Lords can not.
