Subject: Zombies and the tally

Hello all, first post here since Heresy Online seems to be down and I want some input on this as soon as I can get it
Ok so im sure everyone is aware of the Epidemius tally list and how it can be used in conjunction with CSM allies, but I wonder if it can go to a level which is just ridiculous. This isn't a list review request but Im going to post the list I have in mind to illustrate my rules query.
HQ
Typhus
Epidemius
TROOPS
20 zombies
20 zombies
20 zombies
20 cultists
7 Plague Marines (champion, 2 melta guns) - 198
7 Plague Marines (champion, 2 melta guns) - 198
3 Nurglings
FAST ATTACK
5 bikers (champion, 2 melta guns, MoN, melta bombs) - 165
HEAVY SUPPORT
Forgefiend
Forgefiend
FORTIFICATIONS
Aegis line (quad cannon) - 100
= 1750
I know there is alot of arguments going around whether you can add more models to a zombie unit past the initial 10, I fully expect GW to clear that up in the faq whenever it arrives. But never mind that now
Question 1: Do zombies count for Epidemius’ tally? I cant find anything under the plague zombies special rule that states they have MoN or followers of Nurgle. It makes sense to me that they are Nurgle aligned but its not clear. Obviously a Epidemius’ tally + zombie list is useless if they aren't affected by the tally. Thoughts on this?
Question 2: When exactly am I allowed to use Typhus’ Destroyer Hive? The idea behind the list is that you use the hive in the first turn to sacrifice a bunch of cultists. Now my first impression makes me think that it can only be used in CC but the rules state that it is used “once per game, in ANY assault phase” and not in any assault phase in which Typhus actually locked in combat. From what I can tell I don’t think this would be allowed since there is reference to the hive being used at the start of typhus’ initiative step, is this skipped if he is not locked in combat?
So there you go, if I had to say I don’t think this is possible because it would just be ridiculously over powered, 4pt models that wound on a 2+ ignore armour saves and Fnp on a 3+ would be ridiculous.

1) No, they are not marked with nurgle, so no tally benefit
2) DUring close combat. You have to perform it at an I step, which doesnt occur at any point other than during an actual assault.

And how can you proove that Follower of Nurgle = Mark of Nurgle? It seems like there is no definitive defintion of Follower of Nurgle.

As it presently stands Plague Zombies do not have the Mark of Nurgle, so wouldn't add to or benefit from the Tally. We'll see what GW says in the FAQ and if they change anything about them.
The DH says, as you said, it's used in any assault phase, once per game. You should be fine to deploy/move him on turn 1 surrounded by cultists, and use it to kill a bunch of them. It's S4, so it fails to wound 1/3 of them, but you can crowd a pretty large number around his base.

Nowhere does it say to be a follower of nurgle you must have the Mark of Nurgle.

Except in the Epidemius rules, which explain exactly what they mean by a Follower of Nurgle.

If you can't prove they are followers of Nurgle then they aren't.
My normal CSMs aren't followers of Nurgle just because I say they are. On that train of thought my IG vets modeled with Nurgle pustules aren't followers of Nurgle either. Under your definition I could say they are. That doesn't work. Automatically Appended Next Post: Grey Templar wrote:

Awesome, I can just take normal unmarked Havocs and say they are followers of Nurgle and add their kills to the Tally.

Why are you guys arguing over something which is clearly defined in Epidemius' rules?

Dammit, as much as I would hate to admit it Mannahnin does seem right it is defined in the deamon codex. I was hoping that zombies atleast classified as nurgle didn't really have my hopes up with the destroyer hive scenario

Well, the zombies don't benefit, but if you want you can kill them to add to the tally for the benefit of the guys who do get enhanced (Mark of Nurgle guys and Daemons of Nurgle).

I was just taking the assertion that something doesn't have to called a Follower of Nurgle to be a follower of nurgle to it's natural conclusion. I know Epidemius' rules I play an Epidemius Tally list with Gretchin.
