Ok, so I have read in the HH book series that Death Guard wore completely bare metal armor.. so why does everyone paint them White during Pre Heresy? From what I understood Grey Knights also wear uncoated Ceramite armor... so wouldn't this make the Death Guard in more of a silver colored armor?

I've always imagined it to be similar to the difference between polished and unpolished magnesium.
