Ok so if a model has ASF and a GW and that model is facing an opponent with ASF and higher Initiative does the opponent get re-rolls to hit.
At first i thought yes because well one strikes at ASF the other on his normal Init, but then i thought a GW doesn't modify you'r special rules for anything other than striking with it so you still have ASF as a rule and the enemy shouldn't get re-rolls.
So what do you guys thing.

It says under ASL that if you have both they cancel each other out. While there is room for interpretation there, I'd say that effectivly means you gain the benefit of neither.
In other words, your opponent would get re-rolls.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |

That is how I read it. HE being an exception to that of course.

It's an interesting question.
Personally, I'd agree with the guys above, because they do effectively cancel each other out. However, the key word there is "effectively". I'm quite sure that nowhere does it say holding a GW removes the ASF from the model, hence it does technically have ASF. Tricky one...

In reference to Always Strikes Last:
page 66 wrote:
If a model has both this rule and Always Strikes First, the two cancel out and neither applies so use the model's Initiative.p
So, a model with ASF with a GW is granted ASL, the two cancel out and the model loses both ASF and ASL.

I have to post this. The only exception for ASF with GW is High Elfs. There Speed of A rule allows them to ignore The ASL of the GW. (but they do not ignore ASL from a different source.)
This question comes up once a month. read ASF and ASL on BRB pg66.

If you have ASF, you only care what your opponents Inititive is. Them having ASL makes no difference to you.
So if you have an I6 model with ASF fighting an I6 model with ASL, the model with ASF will get a reroll. But if the ASL model had I7 they would not get the reroll.
ASL and ASF cancel out. HEs ignore the ASL from weapons.

Yes they cancel each other out, however for highelves they still stike first pretty much no matter what unless you have a Heral of Nurgle or GUO in your face with noxious vapors overriding everything and forcing you to gain ASL.
