I want a fluffy themed Chaos army and I've been bouncing around as to which legion I want to buy/build/paint/play. This is my attempt at a Death Guard list which is scalable, fluffy and easy to build upon.

HQ 230

Typhus

TROOPS 1176

2x Plague Marines (14 Marines, 2 Plasma Guns, Power Weapon, Combi-Weapon, Veterans of the Long War) 398
2x Plague Marines (7 Marines, Power Weapon, Veterans of the Long War) 190

HEAVY SUPPORT 591

3x Havocs (7 Marines, Mark of Nurgle, 3 Missile Launchers w/Flakk) 197

Comments, critiques, and criticism welcome.

Not a good list at all. You walk across the table. Not enough AP 2 and AP 1 weapons.

Don't give your havocs mark of nurgle, take rhinos and plague zombies. Give Typhus a unit of Nurgle Terminator Champions to go with. Works like a charm!

Disagree. Footslogging CSM is viable and this list is no different.

I would take Power Axes on the champs. You're Initiative 3 anyways.

The havocs are great for trolling

The list as it stands is not balanced enough to deal with some armies. Against a typical 50% shooty 50% assaulty army then they won'y have the guns to deal with the mass of T5 3+Sv FNP troops.

Against a propper gun line army the shear weight of fire power will do it for the plague marines.

As soon as people see you playing such a list all of a sudden you will be facing S10 templates which will cause huge problems; people like to take two vindicators I am told!. Not to mention all of the barrage options not available to imperial forces (sorry don't know the strengths of them all).

If you find yourself facing a shooty list with dreadnoughts, your main plague marine close combat advantage is wiped out straight away (assuming they have not kitted out the dreads with the silly squillions of autocannons). You face the slogg across the board to have dreads ripp into your troops before you can strike back.

I know these are extreme armies I'm talking about you facing, the point I'm making (very awkwardly) is that the army as posted it too extreme. It needs tempering a little to make it a strong army (Ooo I like that analogy).

Thinking (although it would no longer be a foot sloggin army):
Lose the terminator monster and get a nurgle version of Huron (infiltrates with plague marines).
A couple of rhinos for the smaller plague units (and to cover the largers' advance
Lose some havocs for a Defiler / Vindicator / Las Pred? Just thinking of give an oponent something other than the marine units to shoot at.
Sacrifice a few other things to get a standard CSM unit to objective sit. (I lost my last game - 2 objectives- as my orkz got carried away and Waaged off my objective - well they're orkz)
