So let me get this right....
Noise champions have a bolter and bolt pistol. They can't get a ccw because they are not a "noise marine"
They can swap the bolt pistol for a power weapon.
So the only way to get a 2nd ccw is to swap the bolter for a plasma pistol? Seems a little strange.
Oversight or intentional?

Seems like a giant oversight considering the official noise champion model (from the upgrade kit) has both a power sword and pistol.

Yeah, the only arguement one could make that the noise champion is still a noise marine is that he is listed under the unit entry Noise Marines.
How far you can go with that is anyones guess.
So the real question is since lightning claws and power weapons are the same cost, is it worth the 15 points you have to pay for the plasma pistol to get the +1 attack? Especially if you took a doom siren.

Different profiles so no go. I don't think a serial swap is permitted either. There is a similar issue with Plague Marines, the Champion has a Plague Knife and not a CCW.
It's like they meant it to be "take any" as it says in the Army List but the tables present weapon exchanges.

Going by that arguement the noise champion can't take a sonic blaster either. As only noise marines can trade in their bolters. That seems really stupid.

The plague knife is a close combat weapon. If the champion also has a bolt pistol then +1 attack.

Noise champions come standard with a bolt pistol, and can take a weapon from the Melee weapon list without replacing anything. A noise champion that takes any non-specialist weapon from the Melee Weapon list will get the bonus attack from wielding two CCWs.

You have to replace a bolt pistol or CCW to take something off the Melee Weapon list.
Nose Champions have no CCW, so must trade their bolt pistol.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Its another obvious misprint in this turd of a codex.
Look at the regular CSM entry. The wargear list clearly states "close combat weapons (champion only). Same with the havocs in heavy support.
Noise marine champs must have been too busy building up the ecstasy of slaanesh and left their sword under the bed.

I think I'm going to have to wait for an FAQ before I make any major modeling decisions and start ripping apart my champions.
Disappointing.

I'm not disputing that the Plague Knife and Bolt Pistol give +1A. I am pointing out that the RAW is that the Plague Champion cannot swap the Plague Knife for purposes of using the Melee Weapons swap.

That would be correct, possibly in both cases. It is applied in a wide number of Codices. Ork Boys: Nobs can do one thing and Boys can do another, Orks can do a third thing for example.

They can take a Melee Weapon choice or they have to abide by the Melee Weapon swap rule?

I have a related question:
Any Khorne Berzerker can take a chain axe for three points.
The Berzerker Champion is allowed to take swap his bolt pistol and/or CCW with one thing from the Melee Weapons section of the wargear list. One of those items is a Chainaxe for 8 points.
My question is, does the champion have to pay 5 extra points for his Chainaxe, or can he get the cheaper one that other Khorne Berzerkers get?

If it works like anything like the other champions, he has to pay the 5 point surcharge.

Whats really ridiculous is the surcharge terminator champs have to pay for upgrades, when their stat line is the exact same as the regular terminators. They lost their extra attack and still have to pay a 15 point surcharge over a regular terminator for a pair of claws.
Thanks again Uncle Phil!!

The rule for Khorne Berzerkers is any model may take a Chainaxe. So the Champion, being a model, may do this. You could swap for the Chainaxe and pay more but why?
