Morning all,
I recently just finished building my Ravenwing army and I'm looking to figure out how to play them.
Heres the list (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/481571.page#4855763)

I have never run bikes before. Most of the time I play tyranids in a variety of builds so this is a nice change of pace for me. I have my first game setup for this friday to play test the army and any tactics suggestions will be welcome.

Should I combat squad or not?
Should I play aggressive or run around the board?

Aggressively running around the board
Use them to pick off weaker units or pop transports. I myself do not combat squad but it depends on the game/deployment/enemy.

Well at least i can pre-measure now as i run around the board. I'm guessing that for the most part I should keep them away from all close combats.

Yes. If possible do not let them get into CC, the only time I would say to, is when it is a weak unit that you are sure that they can beat. Or, giving the unit all chainswords, sarge melta bombs with a power weapon of some form (Fist?), taking Sammael and giving them the banner and apothecary. That way, they each get 4 attacks on the charge with tough 5 and FNP.

I think the banner and apothecary squad is now good enough to try to push into cc. Otherwise never put your expensive fearless guys anywhere near cc.

You need use hit and run tactics. Just attack a flank with your entire army, so the enemy is limited in what he can attack you with.
If you get caught by the full weight of the enemy or indeed any cc your units will die.
With this it is fine to hide your army out the way for most of the game to rush onto objectives.
You will lose kill point battles, sorry.
Relic is fine and dandy. Do not use apothecary squad to first grab it, use a different squad. The apothecary squad is the squad you want to have the relic at the end when the enemy starts taking pot shots with everything they have at the relic unit. Remember to go 6'' in the shooting face towards cover.

Specifics about biker armies I haven't figured out yet in the new rule set. Actually Ravenwing are now further removed than vanilla biker lists. Vanilla bikers can risk cc and need to be careful at what order models are in.
Do not risk cc and your squads of three, you are going to have an important model hit come what may.

Probably outflank attack bikes if going second to avoid first blood.
Also a nice tactic is to set up to deploy centrally, then use your scout move to push you army down one flank or just out of line of sight if going second.
