Anyone who know where to look for material if I want to add functional headlights/searchlights to a tank? I've seen it before here on dakka...

It's not so bad to do. A single 6V battery hidden away somewhere inside the tank is more than enough to power multiple LEDs. Just make sure to put a resistor in series with each LED to prevent over-current on them. (HINT: If the LED looks like its glowing too brightly you probably don't have a big enough resistor out front, if the LED is dim you could probably come down a little in size.) For most LEDs of that size a resistor of 450 to 680 ohms (common sizes) will probably work just fine.
KO
EDIT: Also make sure to protect your wires from each other (electrical tape at the resistor and LEDs, soldering the LED to the resistor and adding a shrink tube will help a lot at this). You don't want to cause a short because not only does it smell bad you'd ruin the tank and where is the fun in that. I've seen a few things ruined by people not making sure to protect wires from each other.

I've used Digikey ( http://www.digikey.com) and mouser ( http://www.mouser.com) they both sell the majority of components you would need (chip LED, switch, coin battery and micro switch.
