I have heard that in the 6th Ed. monstrous creatures count as characters. Is this in fact the case?

Only the ones that are actually characters.

Just an FYI, it's either listed in the rulebook, your codex or possibly your FAQ. I recommend checking those out.

Unless the MC is listed as a Character they arn't characters.

Being a named Special Character automatically makes you a character IIRC. So Old One Eye and Fateweaver will be characters.

To be clear, squad leaders are now characters so there are way more characters than the people listed as proper "characters." I am most interested if Wraithlords are characters. I suppose it is likely that they are not characters.

Oh snap! After double checking within the rulebook I have found Wraithlords to be listed as characters on pg. 412. Mission accomplished people.

Actually they always were characters, it just didnt make any difference in 4th or 5th
