They are not listed in the back of the book. Being they are unique are they considered characters?

The daemon codex states that "models that are marked as unique in their squad line are individuals and you may not include multiples of them in your army"

They are special characters and thus are characters. None of the special characters are listed in the reference

A: Yes, but not in the case of vehicles (with the exception of
Bjorn the Fell-handed).
