Hi:

I'm going to start building a Night Lords themed Chaos Space Marine Army soon and I'm thinking of making a Daemon Prince with a Bat/Nosferatu theme. I've seen one conversion that used a skull-like theme for the head, but I'm not looking for a bare skull.

Some thoughts I had were using a vampire Counts Vargheist or Varghulf head, but don't know if they are appropriate to scale.

Any suggestions or thoughts on something off the shelf I could use? I haven't done any sculpting in about 20 years so not sure I could whip up something that would meet my own standards.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't say for sure since I have never seen either model in person.

However the Vargheists are on smaller bases than deamon princes (40mm as opposed to 50/60mm) so I'm guessing the scale is smaller.

Varghulf's are on a larger base but are finecast models that only come in five pieces. I'm guesing that the head is not a seperate piece but is molded onto the body (I'm guessing 2 wings, two legs, one body piece, five pieces total) so you would need to chop quite a bit.


My suggestion is to order the Vargheist's heads from a bitz store (either one that advertises on dakka or ebay). It shouldn't cost you more than 10 bucks, so if they don't work you aren't out that much money.

Might want to take a look at the head of the Terrorgheist (Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon / Terrorgheist). Very batlike and a great sculpt. Size might be an issue depending on how large your DP is going to be. Would make a very cool DP head if the size works.

I did look at that, but the missing skin/rotten look isn't something I'm going for on the Daemon Prince. Would be Too Nurgle-like.

Bodywise I'm going with a Standard Daemon Prince kit

I found a head that's being sold as part of a Raging Heroes kit, but it's pretty expensive to just get it for the head.
