Hey everyone,
Pretty new to this site, just wanted another view on some IG heavys
I'll give you a rough guide of my army ( don't be harsh, it's fun) play with friends and we aren't too bothered about what we can and can't have..

Ccs- with straken
Most the trimmings added

Commissar yarrick (why not?)

2xpriest

2x storm troop squads, 1 with plasma x2 1 with meltax2(they deep strike)

3x infantry squad with 1squad with mortar 1 with autocan 1 melta

1vet squad with Harker 3xmelta 1xmissile

Chimera x1
Vendetta x1
Lemanruss demolisher x1
Basilisks x2

Now I don't wanna hear if it sucks but I'm just unsure what tank to add? Another basilisk or try something new like a manticore?
Or bring a reliable battle tank?

Let me know what you think and why!

Well if you're playing with very relaxed friends, I would say bring the standard battle cannon LR. It's reliable, and it hurts alot. It should help round out your list a little bit, it looks like you're all over the place!

Have fun, though!

I love the smell of cordite in the morning.

You don't have a legal list. You need a Platoon Command Squad with those infantry squads.

But you lack ranged transport popping capability. Take an Exterminator for its AutoCannons.

Yeah we're not too fussy about being legal long as its roughly there!
I mostly play against chaos nurgle, ultramarines or Eldar,
Was wondering if anyone had any experience with manticores??

Yeah it's all over the place but I like to think of it as a 'diverse' army
It does the trick and wins most the time but ultimately it's fun for me..
Thanks for the replies though, appreciate it!

Manticores are lots of fun, but if your games usually run longer than four turns you're probably better off with another Basilisk. If you're in it for just a few giggles, then definately try out the Manticore.

If you don't care about legality then just take a Baneblade. And another Baneblade. But make all the weapons STR D AP 1 10" blast (including the heavy bolters).

Why not? If you're going to ignore the rules and bring an illegal list you might as well ignore ALL of the rules.

Just because someone doesn't play the way that you do, doesn't give you an excuse to troll.

How exactly is it trolling? If you're throwing out the basic rules for army construction and just taking anything you want there's no reason NOT to take a Baneblade or five, and to try to argue for house rules that make them even better. I can guarantee you that if my opponent ever said "ignore the rules for army construction" I'd be bringing quite a few superheavies.

Clearly not everyone thinks like that. If your reaction to a removal of FOC restrictions is to spam the most powerful unit that you can, it's pretty obvious the OP isn't interested. That's assuming he has like five baneblades...which is a bit over the top, no?

I'm not willing to pay out for loads of baneblades...Ild have no money left over to drink with!

Like I said were happy with how we play so don't get too worked up about it (it's only a game)
Missing a pcs isn't too crazy or going to change the game much.. We like to have fun but that's clearly gone past you...

Back to the point, if anyone can give advise on some of the guard tanks that would be great!

Try and stop them if you can!

Add a griffon to your bassies. It doesn't have the same range, but once targets hit 48 inches you can really keep the pie on target with its scatter reroll.

Haha first off I love the way you play XD You are the kinda friend I would want to have hahahaha

Second, to answer your question. Since you are playing really casually, no need for uber competitive tank builds. I say you can't really go wrong with a basic LRBT with no fixins'. A good ol' Battle Cannon will miss MEQ up if shot right, and it's only 150 points. And in a casual game, can't go wrong.

If you want to just play for fun, use the Deathstrike Missile! It is immense jokes. When I used it it scattered backwards onto my launcher and destroyed it. Oh, and ogryns! They always make me laugh

Betwixt and Between's Bros 4-1-3 (1750pts)
Strike Force Icarus 24-2-15 (2000pts)
Prince Hiccup and his Merry Band of Caledor: 27-4-5 (4000pts)

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Ouch! Typical guard shooting phase!

Think the manticore might tickle my explosive fancy!! not sure about the death strike ML, would be worried it would get destroyed before shooting with them delays!
Never heard a griffon being described as cute before but i like it!!
But then there's the classic LRBT!! Not much can go wrong especially with F av14 right?

I need another cup of tea to decide! Thanks again...

Try and stop them if you can!
