I am currently converting up a Dark Apostle to lead my 'Bearers and I really need a mace or a hammer that is big and ebil looking. All the ones I have seen so far at my usual haunts (microart, puppetwar, Maxmini, kromlech) are either too nice looking or do not fit the bill size-wise. Any ideas?

If you want a high tech look, some of the Chaos Terminator power weapons may suit (or even a loyalist termy thunder hammer) with a little conversion.

The old WHFB Chaos warrior kit also came with maces and hammers galore, if you want a low tech look.

Some other poster here made a pretty wicked looking hammer out of the dragon faces on the vehicle upgrade sprue.

The Chaos Knights from the fantasy range have a pretty cool, evil-looking mace bit. My friend used it on his Dark Apostle:

if you're after a big hammer how about the Daemon hammr from the Dreadknight kit? not sure if that would be too big for a marine though.
