Ivan Moody (The singer from FFDP) is/was in a few other bands, the only other one of which I've listened to is Ghost Machine, pretty good... I think the other is called Motograter, but I've never listened to them...
One little known band that I love is Mammal. Unfortunately split up after their first (only ) album. Which is a shame as it's a fething good album.
Favourite song from that album, but there's some other great stuff.
They're sort of a boston area techno-pop thing... I like them. I've met the band and hung out with them a couple times. I'm probably one of the youngest people who actually likes them...
Where is Cannerus? I'm anticipating something lovely from him.

I simultaneously love and hate Freezepop. Because while their music is fantastic, they've also got some of the hardest songs to play on Guitar Hero. Less Talk More Rokk is impossible, I swear...

They made them way easier on rockband Both of the songs on the first two GHs were... uh. Hard, to say the least.

I can actually get to the end of Less Talk More Rokk in GH2, but once you hit the endless streams of that riff, it just becomes impossible to keep your fingers from falling off.
By the way, for anyone confused by this, here's the song in question on Guitar Hero 2. The verses of the song are nice and relaxing, but the choruses are just insane.
Anyway, to actually contribute to this thread here, I figure I'll throw out a few of my favorites from Netherlands-based artist Arjen Anthony Lucassen.
First here is Star One, a project that's all about heavy metal and combining it with science fiction. Every song in both albums (aside from the handful of cover songs he did as inspiration) is based on the plot of a sci-fi movie. The first album, Space Metal, is just classic films (like Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Alien, and Star Trek IV). The second album they did, Victims of the Modern Age, is specifically about movies set in dystopian futures (such as The Matrix, Children of Men, and The Road).
I figure I'll throw out my favorite songs from each CD here, since they've only done two so far.
Intergalactic Space Crusaders (Blake's 7)
Digital Rain (The Matrix)
The other project of Arjen's that I've found myself obsessing over for the past five years or so is Ayreon, which is a huge project that spans multiple CDs and a massive repertoire of artists. The whole thing is one giant rock opera that tells the story of how humanity destroys itself through war and neglect in the year 2084 as well as the tale of the mysterious Forever, who forsook their emotions for immortality.
Here's the song that actually brought me into Ayreon, it's one of the best songs in the entire project.
Day Sixteen: Loser
I figure I'd also be remiss if I didn't throw in what is probably the most intense song of Ayreon, Chaos. Enjoy 5 minutes of absolute madness.

Darling Violetta. Unfortunately they aren't really doing anything at the moment because they haven't made enough money from music to just stop and make more music.
They did the theme song for Angel, were in an episode of Buffy (in Season 3 I think), have a song in Vampire the Masquerade.
Think they have one full album and two EPs. They were supposed to be working on a new album, but don't have the time/money.
Some of their stuff is fairly similar to Evanescence, but I personally think a lot better. Music industry success down to luck rather than talent?
