I currently play 40k and fantasy. My wife doesnt play them but has been showing interest in the SBG but i havent played and dont really know how to best describe the play to her. Is it similar to 40 or fantasy or have a very different feel? Also we were thinking of getting the mines of moria set to start since it looks to be a good selection of models. How well does that starter set play? Also how easy is it to do re-enactment battles from the movies? I know she would like to do some of those as well.

The starter set is good, especially if you want the fellowship and/or a Moria army. The starter set plays fairly well with its missions, as well as giving you a base for more games.

Journeybooks include extra model profiles (now found in the sourcebooks as well) and scenarios to act out scenes from the books/films. Some also include guides to making terrain such as houses from Rohan.

What's covered most of the second half of questions- as for what you'd compare it to, it's fairly unique. It's probably closer to 40k thann fantasy because you control individual models, but also games are much smaller and so you'll very, very rarely have combats where dozens are wiped out in a round of combat or shooting.

If I had to, I'd say it's like a smaller, slower-paced 40k, but more balanced armies and, IMO, more fun to play (and more *gasp* strategic)

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.
