I have run Ossrum in a few games now, both with a shooty heavy list and a melee heavy list. I have found that he does better with a heavy melee list with one or two ranged attackers for support. His feat is fantastic for melee dwarf lists as it buffs their mobility and helps them survive the turn after they engage.
He has two ranged support spells, but, that does not demand that you take multiple ranged units. Snipe is usually going to be used to so that a ranged attacker can engage a turn earlier. After that, it is going to be mostly useless and you will replace it with fire for effect for the rest of the game.
I also found that Herne and Jonne get more mileage out of it than the artillery, not to mention they are more versatile and more mobile than the artillery.
He seems to work really well when he has a warjack that is built to charge/slam. Energizer is an amazing spell for getting charges off and working around enemy blocks. I ran him with a basher in my last victory but found that I was lacking some hitting power. I think the wraughthammer rockram would work wonders with him.
