Howdy!

I'm painting an Ork army and want to do it with winter themed bases. I've ordered SWM's snow/water effect slush kits, and I've got the concrete/playground sand mix done for bases.

The question have is this: To anyone who has done snow bases, what color looks good for the ground under the snow? I've looked online at real pictures of snow landscape, but to no avail.

Any ideas for the ground 'base' color?

Thanks for any help.

White or grey paint as a base usually helps. It really just depends on what you want peeking out from under the snow. If you want nothing but snow, just paint the tops of your bases with skull white (or an off brand of the same color), glue, flock, and be done with it.

Personally I'd either go with Space Wolf Grey (or whatever the new version of that is) or Ice Blue (or whatever the rename is). This will give a cold tint to the flock if any of it peeks through.

I usually use grey and blue-grey color rocks. Look in my gallery at my Grey Knights... They all have winter themed bases.

What did you use for the ice effect? Like the one dude who has an icsicle (spelling?) on his base... That looks really awesome, I'm thinking it would look good on the vehicles.
